Turns out it was always a typographical error. A copy editor had a drunken night at a strip club and thought “on” must be a mistake so he replaced it with “down”.

Submitted my efile taxes on 2/15. Yesteday was three weeks and it still hasnt shown up on the IRS site, so I called to check it out.
Either since I was on a payment plan for back owed taxes or because I filed 2019 in October, there is an additional 10 WEEK hold on my refund.
I filed mine the same day. Haven’t gotten a return either. Apparently its just gonna take longer in general. Sucks you gotta wait another 10 weeks.
Wouldnt be too bad if they paid me interest but lol at that ever happening.

So, I did what I should have done from the beginning and checked reddit.
This “10 weeks” thing seems to be a standard IRS talking point… so I have absolutely no idea when I will actually receive my refund. Could be tomorrow, could be much more than 10 weeks

So it seems the IRS has really fucked the pooch on early filers. Nearly everyone who submitted 2/10-2/15 hasn’t received a dime yet, and people filing last week are getting money within 3-5 days.
