To me this is the biggest indicator of privilege.
Also I suspect many Repubs with safe seats will just vote no as I think there must be some suspicion that Trump won’t get re-elected and thus they’re fairly indifferent to the plight of working class (business as usual).
I feel like I’m in a time warp to three years ago when you melted down because you can’t accept the reality that the Rs can do this or that and they have been for 3+ years
You constantly accept the R at face value when it’s clear they are bad actors.
They want to pass a bill that ends a week after the election
Logically, you can see if they lose they will never pass anything once biden is president.
¯_(ツ)_/¯
So we’re just automatically down from $3T, then? Confirmed negotiating against herself.

And here is Nancy’s chart. No mention of USPS or election security.
He is blatantly trying to steal the election via USPS. How is she not screaming about this? I hate her so much.
i mean honestly she’s probably keeping this list to things she can try to leverage as to how GOP is trying to fuck over the livelihoods of the people. We agree USPS and election security are important but if you are trying to leverage public support, these are probably the things to focus on when trying to make your case. Just need to make sure the other two things are in your negotiations as well.
Does it really matter how much money the Dems try to give to USPS when the Postmaster General is intentionally fucking up mail delivery for completely unrelated reasons? The House could pass a trillion dollar clean bill just to fund USPS and DeJoy would still be pulling sorting machines out of post offices.
I’m being optimistic that we win back the senate as well given covid.
If we lose the senate then we are fucked no matter what as mitch will just obstruct as much as possible. None of this matters much if he keeps control.
“We’re in a global pandemic, they’re slowing down the mail to try to steal an election, and as a result people are unable to get mail-order prescriptions in time for necessary medications in a national health crisis.”
No, this is a huge concern for me as well. I think Democrats should be focusing on the mail-in equivalent of the most massive “souls to the polls” operation in American history.
I mean the most likely route to losing the election is the post office not delivering all the ballots which will skew dems since dems believe in the virus and republicans don’t.
The problem is that even with money the postmaster won’t let the ballots get delivered.
OMFG please let this election bullshit be like Y2K. Please let us be paranoid. Please.
What’s pro forma sessions?
Neither body is allowed to adjourn for more than three days without consent of the other while Congress is in session, so they have someone come in, bang a gavel, and immediately move to adjourn every three days so that they are technically following the rule.
It’s also a procedural trick that was supposed to prevent Presidents from making recess appointments. As long as you go through the motions of holding a session, you’re never officially in “recess.”
So this means no stimulus bill is even possible in the next 4 weeks?
We already have an EO. we are set.
He can call them back with 24 hour notice. He will only do so if there is a deal. What’s not clear is whether McConnell is willing to bring a bill to the floor that requires Democratic votes to pass.
Right and Dems should be teaching the country this right now as part of the messaging battle. Keep the House in session, keep passing better and better bills for the people, and keep saying “We’re still working, #WheresMitch? He’s sending someone in to gavel them in and out of session every few days instead of trying to help the American people.”
I think this ignores how important constituent services are. Some of the incumbents most vulnerable to being primaried are the ones who ignore the apolitical, routine stuff back home. Some of the politicians you think are useless keep their jobs by being good at this stuff. Many members of Congress are going to feel a strong duty to render non-legislative assistance to those harmed by COVID.
