Really what even Republicans would want to paas is something that pays you 80-100% of your pre-covid income up to 100k or something. But they know that is impossible to administer because our government is incompetent. So instead they have to pull some random number out of their ass.
It’s why just giving large UBI payments makes the most sense. It is the most fair and easy to administer.
They should of got rid of the unemployment benefits all together and switched to UBI. (Not the state unemployment, the federal top off).

Not sure if this is better or worse than $100/wk? I imagine it really screws over people in low paying job and service jobs.
Certainly screws over people in tipped positions with a tip compliance in place for tax purposes.
The $600 should be increased and expanded to include many more people than are currently eligible for it. $100/week is an insult that will be of no meaningful assistance to those who need it while allowing the Republicans to boast about another $1T bailout for the common folk.
JUST GIVE EVERYONE THE SAME AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR FUCK’S SAKE

$100 a week is insanity and means defaulting on everything for many many people.
Politically, the Democrats should absolutely let the world burn. Pass a clean House bill with money for every individual human in the country, continuing as long as unemployment is above 8%, then do nothing else.
