You are still working as an essential employee.

Even more reason Bryce deserves at least 10 grand imo.

Yeah the 600 for unemployment should have just been given to everyone too of course. Grocery workers getting hooked badly, they’re working for nothing.

Looks like the plan is to start processing the SBA loans by Friday.

This isn’t real is it?

Im pretty sure that just says the 1200 is a tax credit given in advance. They are lowering everyone’s taxes owed by 1200 for 2020 and giving it to them now, instead of tax time.

If you end up owing $5k for 2020 taxes, you would actually owe $3800 because of the tax credit. Since you already got the 1200 you still owe $5k.

Not sure if thats clear, but its still free money. Someone can correct me if I am wrong or explain it mroe clearly than i just did.

Correct, and this is good because it takes care of the people that made good $ in '18/'19 but not in '20.

If you qualify for $0 now (say your a single filer who made 100k+ in both 18 and 19) and don’t get a check, are you going to get a $1200 rebate when you do your 2020 taxes if you make under $75k? I don’t think I have seen that spelled out anywhere.

Well I haven’t seen it spelled out anywhere, but if that’s not the case what’s the idea behind it being a ‘tax credit’ as opposed to just a check?

If it’s a tax credit they can apply it to back taxes owed and never give it to people who might need it most.

No but srsly, yeah, let’s go to the other thread. PL/NLO8 is my main game and I’d like to hear some HH.

So my moms on social security. She worked and paid taxes for most of 2018, but 2019 she was on social security and disability and I claimed her as a dependent since I pay all the bills food etc and take care of her.

Anyone know if she will get the $1200 or will I get an extra $500 for her and she gets $0 since I claimed her as a dependent in 2019?

Not sure where I should put this as I’m way behind on most threads and haven’t even opened this one until now but it seems appropriate (so sorry if other people have posted similar stories). Got an urgent e-mail this morning from the CEO of my parent company (Tenet Healthcare) to tell us that in order to deal with the COVID-19 emergency they’ll be…postponing matching people’s 401ks. Massive for-profit hospital network but they can’t afford to pay people’s retirements during a crisis, while markets are low and would be especially profitable, despite the fact that they are almost certainly receiving some bailout money. I assume we’re not the only company doing this as he mentioned others are doing it as well. They’ve also cut our hours but that I’m a little more forgiving of because they’re trying to keep the place as empty as possible before shit hits the fan and I’d rather be here fewer days for the time being. Still, fucking corporate welfare, just burn it all down.

With that said I should at least commend my local hospital network and CEO for staying on top of things and looking out for employees. They’re setting up small grocery shops and piloting restaurant partnering programs to give employees options to get food/meals within work hours while all this is going on.

I think anyone claimed as a dependent does not get the $1200. Don’t know if they qualify for the $500 or not.

I reserve the right to be wrong about everything.
