Where is this coming from? Because of my post about science in the other thread? I wouldn’t say I’m “active”, I just had some free time yesterday and this morning

I don’t see what’s wrong with keeping an open mind and questioning things. You all accuse me of getting others to do my work for me. Maybe there’s truth to that. I know what I know from a variety of sources that I read and listen to (and no… I NEVER watch Fox News or strictly conservative stuff, but do listen to some with different takes like Kyle Kalinski, Jimmy Dore, Sam Harris, Krystal Ball, Joe Rogan’s podcast, etc.). I’m sure you guys hate some of those people, but I don’t take what they say as written in stone either. I just like getting different takes. I’m not going back to school or immersing myself in the study of these subjects when others are already doing that. Those here who have done so, or are doing that, I’ll listen to as well (if they’re respectful)

I have a buddy who thinks 9/11 was an inside job. I’ve followed a ton of his links. How airplane fuel can’t burn through steel like that. How no way 1, let alone 2, buildings can implode so perfectly without demolition experts, etc. I came away not buying it. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. I think he’s wrong. Period. But at least I listened to what he had to say and who he got his info from!

So yeah. I possess a ton of intellectual curiosity, but I’m 24 and in the process of trying to build a life. I don’t have the time nor inclination to pour over and study some of these subjects to death. I think I read and keep up with current events more than most my age (and more than most in general). Instead of sitting on your high horses bashing me for what I don’t know and being intellectually lazy, you could use my takes as a way forward in how to educate the general population on some of these issues because I guarantee I’m more progressive and open to change on what I’m wrong about than most, and certainly more than older people who are set in their ways

But I don’t most here are at all interested in that. They’d rather just look down on people and bash them for their ignorance (we are ALL ignorant about some things). That’s a good way to make yourself feel righteous, but a terrible way to change minds and bring about change when it comes to things you truly care about

I’m not “sitting on my high horse”, but if you say that people’s voices are “being taken away”, I’m not going to leave that unchecked.

I thought I already admitted I was wrong about that and unwittingly conflated different issues?. If not, I’ll do so now

Okay, if you believe no that there is absolutely no “free speech” problem in this country, then we are on the same side.

I never thought there was a free speech problem in this country (except when it comes to police who don’t seem to respect particularly 1A and 4A). I’m more concerned about giant social media companies trying to silence people like Trump (even tho I love the net effect)

I’m also very concerned about the spread of mis and disinformation and leaving it up to these social media giants to police their own users and think we need some kind of regulatory body such as the FAA to require warning labels for questionable or alternative statement of “facts”. This includes news shows such as CNN and Fox & Friends, as well as FB, Twitter, et. al

This has nothing to do with “people like Trump”, though. There are millions of people like Trump still running around spreading their toxic views all over social media. Trump, specifically, was banned for ginning up a seditious, insurrectionist mob through repeated dangerous lies, not for the years and years of poison he spewed to the world at large. And if not for January 6, I guarantee he’d still be on Twitter.

I’m going to assume you meant the FCC, because I doubt very much that the Federal Aviation Administration has much interest in this  But yes, regulation is sorely needed. The return of the Fairness Doctrine, and figuring out how to apply it to social media as well as traditional media, would go a long way toward this.

Dan Bongino getting smoked? I wonder why.

This is contradictory. “Silencing” Trump is necessary to combat the spread of disinformation.

BUT MUH FREEZE PEACH

HE’S BEING SILENCED BY ANTIFA

Not enough white nationalism?

Oh no they’re going to use this law to silence more conservative voices!

Point being that Democrats suck and actually are a threat to free speech.
