I’m starting to come around to this, but I do like the idea of sitcoms coming up against dramas. Fun bracket matchups.
Downton Abbey
Upstairs Downstairs
How many shows we going for? 256?
Prime Suspect (Masterpiece Theatre)
Taskmaster

Better shut down nominations tomorrow evening
Tulsa King is complete garbage lol
No it’s not. It’s hilarious. It’s just not done in Oklahoma lol (and who cares if it’s not believable?)
I watched most of the first season and it was definitely shot in Oklahoma. It’s unintentionally funny but it’s one of the worst shows I’ve seen of this era.
I think they even rented a casket from my partner’s funeral home
They probably shot a lot of it in Tulsa in season 1, but future seasons seem to have had most of it moved to Georgia. They probably shoot like a few scenes per episode (is the ranch in Tulsa?) outside of the ranch scenes and grow scenes if they’re done in Tulsa just to be able to say they shot it there. The interior bar/gambling thing I think is shot in Atlanta and I think the house he lives at in later seasons is also in Atlanta, so much more in Georgia.
You need to watch a lot more TV if you think it’s one of the worst shows you’ve seen of this era. It’s mid-tier at worst and I’d argue it’s the most entertaining Taylor Sheridan show on TV right now (all his shows are various degrees of entertaining depending on what floats your boat). I went in very much expecting not to like it after avoiding it for several years and like I said it was a very pleasant surprise at a time where a pleasant surprise was good for me.
I only watched a few episodes but I too enjoyed Tulsa King and was quite surprised that I liked it.
Another one where I actually finished 10 seasons:
JAG
ER
This is a correct answer
1883
Banshee
Veronica Mars
True Blood
Tulsa King is a cariacture of what out of touch elites imagine backwards Okies to be. I heard they did some cool stuff with Chinese racism this season.
If by out of touch elites you mean Taylor Sheridan and the creator of Boardwalk Empire, ok.
The Chinese storyline is related to one of the characters who got in bed with the Triad to do a grow farm. The leader of the Triad at the grow farm decided he wanted to take over instead. The mafia is enlisted to help solve the problem, even though the guy is a common enemy. The part of the storyline that intersects is that the leader of the Triad at the grow farm trashed the competing grow farm of the Stallone crew, which caused a bigger problem. That’s really about it. It’s called a dramatization, and nothing in Taylor Sheridan’s universes are ever even remotely considered realistic. You seem very possessive of Oklahoma’s representation in this show for some odd reason.
Grunching a tad, my nominees which I assume are all mentioned multiple times:
Arcane
Band of Brothers
BCS
Bojack Horseman
Breaking Bad
Buffy
Deadwood
The Expanse
The Leftovers
Excluding some series like True Detective because latter seasons, while largely enjoyable, never came close to the greatnesas of s1. South Park is the same for me - some incredible seasons, but especially later seasons are decidely meh overall.
Happy to see Buffy mentioned by others! The effects and too much fighting would prob spoil the series a bit now, but some of the standout episodes (like The Body and the musical) are still incredible to this day.
A disturbing amount of series that starts with B and none after L, I’ll use that as a quality metric going forwards!
Yeah I was thinking that too, ABBBBBDEL. Save some for the rest of the alphabet! Two of them double up on the B’s even, BoB and BB.
without scrolling through 170+ posts, who nominated trailer park boys?
you’re my new friend
Dat be me homie. It’s a shame we likely never get another live action season because half the cast is either dead or feuding. RIP Mr.Lahey
