Advice/help purchasing an expired and parked domain.

For years, I watched a domain. Then, the owner died. The domain is now free and parked on GoDaddy. WHOIS lookup shows:

Registry Expiration: 2022-04-10 18:23:16 UTC
Domain Status:
clientDeleteProhibited
clientTransferProhibited
clientUpdateProhibited

Does this go to auction and then back on an open market for purchase? That’s my befuddled understanding.

the best advice is to just be yourself

That’s actually great advice in general and here specifically, since the domain is my name.

It’s available and parked at GoDaddy. Right now they would let me make an offer through some agent, but my understanding is that it will go to auction and after auction revert to the open market.

But I don’t know, have never tried to do this before. Obviously.

Domain has gone to auction … GoDaddy auctions says it is valued at $1,846. Apparently it gets 30 visits a day. Auction goes 10 days, bidding starts at $12. …

With this information, I can figure out which one it is and out-bid you for it.

Wait your personal name website gets 700 views a month!

Assuming it’s accurate. (I actually went back and changed the #s slightly after posting, to avoid someone sorting, so, funny you mention it).

I have been outbid. There is an Evil Sapo out there, and he wants this domain also.

evilsapo dot com may be available tho, in case elsapo doesn’t work out…

how high am I willing to go?
who am I bidding against?
is this an existential moment?
is the universe conspiring to strip me of my identity?
should I resist?
what’s in a name?
$100?
$500?
$10000000000000?

bidding ends tomorrow

Ends in 2:45, bidding up to almost $300, I may be done.

Couldn’t go the distance … ElSapo.com went for $375 … just gotta wait for this guy to die too, I guess.
