That’s because Defund the Police is too vague and too simple to be anything more than a slogan. We need better police and it’s not a one sentence answer. The idea that we can exist without someone to call for this kind of shit is too simplistic to even discuss.
Perhaps it’s time to stop letting the be their own little fiefdoms and start trying to implement real community oversight? Let the local community decide how much funding and what tasks should be falling to the police. One slogan isn’t going to solve this, unfortunately playing gotcha with people who have said it in the past is what passes for debate in this country and will prevent any meaningful change.
That’s where there is room for the Federal and State governments to set some guidelines.
I’m upset the left hasn’t stormed the Capitol for legitimate grievances while the right storms it because they didn’t like the outcome of the election.
