Totally agree. We can all see the behavioral trap very clearly when deplorables mash like buttons on Facebook posts that poke their outrage, but otherwise normal and smart people (including lots of us) have similar instinctive reactions. The one that comes up all the time is when conservatives say something that evidences a double standard and we get a whole bunch of A HO HO HO LOOK HERE A DOUBLE STANDARD WE GOT 'EM! Nobody can fully combat brain chemistry impulses and rewards.
This is where I think we’re talking past each other. I am saying that a specific behavior on Twitter is a bad thing. That is not a claim that Twitter generally is an absolute bad thing or net bad thing.

currently on MTP: they’re discussing the Marbury case as if it’s somewhat of an open question whether or not the video was really neccessary to get a conviction, what the actual fuck, those guys weren’t even gonna get arrested without that video, it’s literally not a matter of opinion at all.
The video was important in getting the case prosecuted in the first place but I think that the prosecutor who tried the case could have gotten a conviction without the video just based on their statements to police. It was important in getting the case in her hands but in the actual trial it was less important than the defendants statements. They basically confessed to murder the day of the killing by making it clear that they didn’t have any clear crime in mind when they conducted their pursuit and arrest. And the local cops wanted to arrest them that day but the local prosecutor wouldn’t let them.
They need to move on to the real important open questions about the case, like “Was the so-called victim no angel? Republicans say …”

Over/under on deaths at this thing?
I’d rather not put a number on it but chances of mayhem are low. They have shown up and brought their guns to a number of local protests over the last few years. That said, I’m glad they chose Washington Square rather than the state capitol so they’re a little further away.
Wtf is it with this guy. Now he’s changed his intended major why can’t he fuck off to some other school. We’re full up on asshole alumni.
I mean, his defense attorneys having him sign up for some online nursing classes a month before his trial so he could testify and bullshit the jury by claiming to be a college student studying nursing was definitely an elite scumbag move.
