I don’t see much difference between that and this sort of speculation:
Is it because it’s more interesting to people so it enters the discourse? Or is it something more sinister, and the narrative at large is easily manipulated by a state actor?
Dude is a gender neutral term now and it can be a man, woman, or enby.
Have a hard time believing that, as that post wasn’t directed at any person here at all.
All I know is that if I’m capable of almost entirely ignoring this old drama/bickering for months on end, everyone is. I also would think it would be easy for mods to notice and moderate attacks, especially when flagged, regardless of whether they spiral into 100+ post bickering derails.
If that works, this place would function really well. Maybe everyone should drop their beefs and try that?
I definitely think the signal to noise ratio here is deteriorating rapidly and something needs to change soon to save this place, so hopefully it does. Maybe we could even get some people to come back and join in constructively if we can make positive changes.
Make Unstuck Fun, Understanding, and Cool Again! We sure know the country/world isn’t headed in the right direction so it sure would be nice to have a place to discuss that and cope together.

Why would mod involvement be necessary if people can simply ignore what you describe as old drama/bickering?
There are two groups, an ingroup majority and their outgroup minority, who disagree on fundamentals and that has nothing to do with personal beefs.
Does that include some of the people who the ingroup ran off the site? Asking for some friends.

Last time I checked y’all elected a mod specifically thinking it would get other people banned and then got all mad when it was your own people getting banned. Then you drove them off the site.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, should just take a step back and fucking realize none of this is that serious.
I will preface this by saying that I was a pretty serial offender of caring at one point but everyone would be best served by just taking a step back and stop using this place as a proxy for real life. It isn’t that. The fact we subject mods to spending hours of their life dealing with this shit is insane. Like I literally feel bad that they have to listen to the whining of the serial whiners on both sides. If we can’t coexist here without that then just don’t be here and let’s just all move on.
