About Moderation

For sure. Everyone makes mistakes though.

There is an important lesson here that everyone (or at least everyone that I can think of) is contributing something positive to the forum. But oftentimes we pay more attention to the posts we don’t like, especially if the poster is mainly active in a topic that we aren’t interested in.

On the other hand I can sympathize. Goof Baller followed me around for literally 5 years, being a raging trolling asshole to me. Literally acted that way towards me for years. Am I sorry to see him go? Of course not. I’ll not celebrate it, as I know that many people were very fond of him, exactly because he didn’t treat them the same way he treated me and AQ. Everyone has a different forum experience.

I just dont get the two year facade about what exactly just happened being absolutely terrible for the site. That was hundreds to thousands of hours of your guys lives! Everyone could see through the transparent lying, but why not just say “hey, we don’t like CW, goofy, Ikes and don’t want to be around them?”

You wasted just days of your lives lying about the inner politics of a political message board with ~300 members to get to a point where ~5 of them would leave.

I at least respect Keed being like “I didn’t like goofy.” He didn’t parse it in weird political speech about rules, regulations and what is best for the forum at large.

Congratulations.

Well there’s a difference between my dislike of ikes and Goof Baller and CW. CW never followed me around the forum trolling me and being a jerk like those two. They’re the only two on the forum that are on my muted list. Because they’re really the only two who acted like that towards me that I can recall, and of course I dislike them for that. CW was just a bad mod. That’s it. No hard feelings and I’m sure he did his best, but his policies were very misguided and destructive and that’s all I’ll say about that.

In what way did he “vandalize” anything?

I don’t either.

finally something both sides can agree on

So he is supposed to keep the bot running on his computer to serve a forum he no longer frequents?

Why wouldn’t he deactivate bots that he had to occasionally troubleshoot and presumably was paying some kind of hosting fee to keep running? Is it going to be “vandalism” when cW doesn’t post on his gimmicks like Gritty? Oh, you keep adding on to the post

No one considered goreo leaving or deleting his account vandalism.

From each according to his means, to each according to “go fuck yourself shitlib, here’s another picture of $90”

This is what’s so frustrating. You’re sure of this, despite the posts people made doing just this, and in a breathless angry way, to boot.

Anyway I doubt oreo wants us talking about him. JBro was making a point about how things are interpreted differently depending on the team, I think, and that’s as far as it goes.

People are very sure that a lot of things didn’t happen. I guess I can’t blame them, because it’s the only way they wouldn’t be appalled by the never-ending blizzard of shit rained down on me and my friends from a half dozen members of the “adult” team.

Goreo’s “vandalism” was deleting his customizations and resetting admin options to Discourse defaults, not his choosing to leave here. It’s not the same thing as (essentially) choosing to stop posting on gimmick accounts.

@clovis8 is also about to become a free agent as his province leaves Canada!

I have a long list of former regulars whose posting here I valued very highly. It sounds like you recognize the feelings I had when they left because either they themselves felt unwelcome or because other’s that they like had left for similar reasons.

You most of all. I guess these are more examples of things that didn’t happen that you’re sure did but it’s the same idea.

Believe it or not people can perceive things differently without lying. I wasn’t lying when I said your avatar combined with the PM you sent seemed like harassment to me. I also don’t consider you, or anyone else, an “enemy”.

What made them feel unwelcome, that all of their demands were not acceded to in a timely manner with an appropriate amount of enthusiasm from people who didn’t agree with their philosophy on how the site should be governed? Because that’s how I remember subforum-gate and leaving for a new site.

At any rate, I was not glad that most of them left, it’s a damn shame we (the we we, all of us) failed to maintain a maximally inclusive forum.

That recollection is an issue we disagree on. I will say that on average they acted more reasonably and maturely than goofy did from that point forward. On the shame of where it got to, we agree. I only use goofy here because he was the topic individual.

yes we did and I cant tell how much I appreciated it at the time. and the only reason I did not stick up for you going forward and recently was bc I knew that it would put a target on your back and I just did not want to taint you with my alleged problems.

regardless, I am sorry for the abuse I threw at you.

Goreo did vandalize the forum on the way out. He also didn’t just leave and delete his account did he?
