What’s the standard for flagging a post? Like if I see someone post something with what seems to me are clear intentional racist overtones but still in the realm of plausible deniability, is that flaggable?

Why not just reply to the post with your concerns about it?
Because I don’t think a person being intentionally racist is someone open to a “hey this is racist” conversation.
I mean if someone is being actually racist, there’s going to be an avalanche of shit coming down on him here. This isn’t exactly the most permissive environment for that sort of thing. So if that post is passing by uncommented you’re going to have to make your case, right?
What if someone is trying to derail a conversation into a fight about racism by posting provocatively but with plausible deniability?

I suppose so. It’s a little complicated there because the person in question is someone I had on ignore (presumably for stuff like this) but I clicked “view hidden post” in what I thought would be a relatively innocuous thread. I didn’t know who it was beforehand, obviously, and just assumed it wouldn’t be anything for any concern given the topic.
I guess it would be funny to ask them what they mean with their dog whistle but I don’t really have the energy to put into trolling that I used to.
I don’t know, tell them they’re derailing the conversation into something inflammatory and irrelevant? Seems like a bad debate tactic but not something you can really make a rule about or anything.

This isn’t really a log of key moderator actions kind of thing until a moderator has done some action.
The thread where this stuff makes more sense was locked and people seem to dislike starting new threads. Maybe a mod can prune this thread to start a catch-all mega-thread for general questions, whinging, and derails about moderation. And then, of course, log doing it ITT.

Flag the posts and let the mods take a look. I don’t see everything here. You don’t have to make a case to the person being racist, but a few words to us will help.

Oh, it all makes sense to me now.
It’s not that hard to say the same thing without calling people c***s and fucking morons. The site took a vote and doesn’t want personal attacks. I know that’s vague and “that post strikes me as less than 100% true” actually means the same thing as “you’re a fucking liar”, but watevs decided to post in a way that is pretty hard to defend - given the no personal attacks vote. And, fwiw, I think it’s a good idea if everyone were nicer, including the people like @clovis8 who can’t help shitting on watevs just about every single day.
