Micro was first to call CN a moron in that exchange and did so pretty quickly imo. No one cares about the use of foul language, but when you resort to personal insults like that it’s usually a sign you’re either losing the argument or can’t find an intelligent rebuttal. Also, CN did not respond in kind even after being called a moron and an idiot
I have no dog in this fight and actually think Micro is usually a very good poster, but that’s how I saw this exchange as an objective observer fwiw

Maybe the disagreement here is that I don’t think all insults should be banned.
Man, I’m old enough to remember when “attack the argument, not the arguer” was an agreed upon and objective metric among the people who now make up this community. Now I’m supposed to believe that attacking an argument is provocative, but personal insults are hunky dory? Wild.

tl;dr - you’re just here to drag down a community you don’t participate in. Maybe that wasn’t always the case, but it is now. Why not move on and just leave for good? What do you get out of it?

That sounds right, but I’d phrase it as you think some should be banned and I think practically none should be banned.
I had an ex-girlfriend who would get dopamine hits from complaining about stuff. It didn’t matter if the complaint had no impact on her life. It didn’t matter who or what it was about. Just the act of bitching and complaining was enough to get a dopamine rush for her. I became aware that she was miserable to be around and the relationship didn’t last long.

The reason you only see complaining about you from me is probably because this is the only thread you follow, and I don’t post very often in it? I post a fair bit in other threads, though not as much as many.
If you were an active member who posted in other threads, I’d be more inclined to see your posting here as constructive, though with your general tone my interpretation would be more in the lane of “I disagree with the moderation policies here and I know I won’t change anything by posting, but I’ll do it anyway for [reasons you know best]”.
Since I don’t interpret your posting ITT as constructive, I see it as trying to sow further discord and further drag down a community that I assume you feel treated you and your friends badly. Note: I did not follow the actions that lead to bans and the creation of NMNM and have only a vague sense of what happened and who were the primary players.
I’m not inclined to view posting like that in a positive light - is that understandable?
I could definitely ignore you and possibly might (I don’t ignore a lot of people, like 3-4). On the other hand, I’d like UP to stay and thus have come to appreciate staying informed on posts that might affect how it’s run and its health. Despite its faults, for me it’s still a place to get a lot of good information and discussion, particularly on US politics (I’m not from the US, in case you didn’t know). And to shitpost with other olds ofc.
