About Andor, and lesser Star Wars things

So what is the consensus so far? RT has 83 % with a 14% audience score and imdb has a horrendous 3.5 rating for The acolyte? Still worth a try?

It’s fine. It’s been just good enough to keep me from quitting.

14% audience score is surely driven by trolls. Like omg non of the main characters are white. Well maybe the bad guy.

Yeah, it was getting review-bombed before it ever released, totally ignore the audience scores. Fucking weirdos.

But the show is decent at best. The Manny Jacinto character is far and away the highlight for me.

Yeah the show is merely just OK which doesn’t generate a lot of enthusiasm for anyone to go out of their way to give it good reviews to counteract the review bombing.

I’ve watched every second of SW live action material, but these repeated mediocre series are really testing me. Watched the first 2 eps, but couldn’t get over that it felt like a crappy CW show. Sounds like the latest eps are a bit better, so maybe I’ll just binge it once it’s all released.

jedi slaughter was entertaining as hell

The finale of The Acolyte was pretty entertaining, even if the fan service stuff seemed a bit forced. No major spoilers or anything but:

It definitely ended on a mild cliffhanger and I want more. I hope Disney doesn’t let the incel review bombing hold them back from telling more stories around this time period, which seems pretty significant. I loved the old republic lore in star wars and have been wanting something like this for some time.

So did Sol kill all the witches?

Re-Watched Andor to cleanse the SW palate. Holds up, maybe even better.

Then decided to watch Rogue One again. Wow does that movie hit hard after getting to know Andor. Brutral

Acolyte lowest-viewed SW series to date per Nielsen data. Oof with that budget for only 8 eps.

Not that different from Andor.

Andor views make me sad. We can’t have nice things. Best SW related release in decades and viewers won’t give it the time of day unless it has a shiny name or adorable puppet attached to it. Mando 3 sucked and 2.5x’d it in views.

Thankfully Andor S2 is happening anyway, and it was always meant to be the last of it.

It was originally meant to be five seasons and they decided two was better.

Andor viewership generally grew as the show wore on and got good word of mouth (thankfully, as it was great) and supposedly has had a steady trickle of new viewers over time, although that won’t show up in official ratings. Seems to be the opposite of Acolyte, which failed to make the top 10 in streaming shows for half its run (the numbers in parens after the DNQ are the lowest minutes watched of the top ten, meaning all we know is Acolyte was below that).

I’m not even making a value judgment here on the quality of the show as I didn’t even watch it (or BoBF, Mando S3, or Ahsoka). Just that the numbers are interesting, and I’m curious as to what it means for the future of SW television. Their next show is that Skeleton Crew one with Jude Law that’s supposed to basically be Goonies/Stranger Things in space.

Looks like The Acolyte won’t get a second season.

It wasn’t great. Sure wish they would just focus their efforts on making movies. Preferably, uhh, good movies.

Making a Mando movie after Mando S3 was shitty is a pretty unexciting return to the silver screen if that’s actually happening next.
