Abolishing the Police

Added to the list. This is really taking off.

Ok maybe but communication is about passing information so if everyone thinks you mean something different you are not doing a good job communicating what you mean.

Also nice to see you back posting after a long hiatus. Welcome back!

Not to mention the implied moral equivalence between abolishing police/property with that other abolition movement.

The Anarchists have done a lot better at keeping the cartels at bay than the police.

I guess the first step is someone trying to run on it in a super progressive city and see how it pans out.

Trump is a bug, not a feature, of democracy. He is sui generis in terms of his stupidity, venality, and narcissism.

This is perhaps because Ellison increased Chauvin’s charge from 8 years max (with good behavior) to an effective life sentence, and the three accomplices from nothing to likely 20 a pop.

That’s easy. We will just keep borrowing security from China.

As currently constituted, the police make everyone less safe than they would if better trained, better educated, and more scrupulously judged people served on the forces.

Again, this is akin to saying “teachers are making everyone dumber, even the students they ‘teach’”.

Well, that must mean they support never rebuilding a force. I’ve been chessmated.

When you capitalize it like that? Yeah.

Yeah, like, in the newer better world guys like him would get fired unless they shaped up pronto.

Ben Carson is smarter than anyone on this forum.

Hmmmmmm…lul

Seriously? The murderer is getting lynched.

First guy that molests children in the non-police world would get tortured.

The abolishing of police, at least to me, is intertwined with the basic question of how our institutions should be administered. Top down, or bottom up.

Because we are in a capitalist society, the decisions of how/when/if the police do what they do are not made by the community.

I have little(no?) faith that those in power right now in our country have any desire to end mass incarceration or “Ferguson-style” policing or any of the negative effects of placing profits over people. Therefore, I am in favor of abolishing the institution(s) that they created to enact those policies.

You mean the original victim or the person victimized by police that committed the crime against the original victim?

Pass.

Problem is that the cops are not any better in any other system that I’m aware of. I still firmly believe that capitalism with controls is the best of a bunch of shitty systems. But I still want to abolish the police, because fuck them.
