He basically gave Le Pen the presidency to fuck up people’s retirements.
Pretty terrible decision

Yesterday the right wing AFD managed to get their first District Administrator elected despite all other parties uniting behind a CDU candidate. Right wing people are obviously delighted.
Interestingly it wasnt even a county thats doing badly. There was a study that said even if a region is doing well it doesnt mean that people feel the same. A supermarket that is too far away was already reason that people were feeling left behind.
Doesnt help that the biggest party CDU doesnt do politics and only engages in cultural warfare against the Green party. Green Party is the scapegoat for everything right now. The heating law probably generates the biggest outrage right now. There is a lot of misinformation around and people are stupid at math because the alternative of a price on CO2 will be getting much more expensive in few years as well. But I think people probably assume that they can get rid of this as well.
The new wave of the far-right begins
This should absolutely be a warning shot to the rest of the NATO members. Hungary is already in Putin’s pocket and Poland has a pro-Russia party on its way up. I’m sure inevitably the Czech Republic will join the rest of the Visegrad Four in having either a current party pivot to pro-Russia (looking at you SPD) or a whole new party that’s pro-Russia.
Is it still far right when he is actually a socialist? From what I read a lot of parties in Slovakia want a strong welfare state.
A lot of far right parties have a socialist element in the sense that they want socialism for the privileged insiders and oppression for the excluded class.
More populist than socialist.
Even the far-right party in Czech Republic talks about increasing pensions and healthcare benefits.
Election results seem similar to what happened in the last Czech election. Ousted the party with the most votes by multiple parties with not much in common other than hating the biggest party coming together as a coalition.
That coalition is definitely better than the biggest party but not by much.
Wilders won the most seats in the Netherlands. He probably wont be able to build a governement but I doubt his followers will accept it that a majority could be build by other parties without the election winner.
Germany is in a trouble as well. After our Supreme Court ruled some financing scheme unconstituational there is 60 billion in spending unaccounted for in 2024. Since we got a “Schuldenbremse aka debt break or whatever you call it in english” you have to find the money somewhere. Ofc the conservatives want to welfare social spending. The finance miniser already put a stop to most spending even the 100 billion in special capital meant for the army after Russia invaded Ukraine.
Aside from that the members of the smallest coalition partner apparently got enough signatures to force a vote about “staying in this government or leaving it” which could force re-elections.
At this point I have no hope that there will be any progress regarding protection the environment or transition to a greener future. The EU parlament even voted against a proposal to limit the use of pesticides.
Last week the planet broke through the 2° warming treshhold for day. Fun times.
Moved from wrong thread bc I can’t read so good
Is that a right wing party?
Yes.
And the center right party is the 2nd most popular.
Funny thing is that all these patriots have no problem that their guys are spying for Russia and China.
On another note the attorney general for one of the biggest tax evasion scams (cum ex - its about dividends) resigned because she didnt get the support she needed. One of the guys who was famously involved is the current chancellor Olaf Scholz, who has amnesia about the whole matter.
Makes no sense. He’s one of the most pro-Russian politicians out there but gets probably killed by a pro-Russian activist.
Has to concern a lot of politicians in neighboring states as well. You know, like the one I live in.
German news says the shooter is an 71 years old author who was shot himself in an assassination attempt some years ago, that’s why he legally owned a gun. They didn’t mention he is pro-Russian.
