How often do you wash a pair of pants? Let’s say we are talking about something like khakis or chinos and definitely not jeans.

  • After a few uses
  • Until it smells or is visibly dirty

The last time i was rich i bought all new clothes, and i did something unusual because i was rich, i sorted by price descending, to prioritize shopping for the most expensive items available. And these clothes, because of the delicate stitching or whathaveyou, are strictly dry clean only. And since I’m not rich anymore I’m not dry cleaning my pants every day, but if i were to drop a spaghetti meatball on them i suppose i would have to

I wear “business pants” to the office for about six hours twice a week. Those can go quite a while between washings. Track pants/sweat pants that I typically wear all day usually get washed after one or two wearings.

I’ve generally washed them after one use, but I’ve been thinking maybe I don’t need to. This might change how I pack for my Vegas trip.

a regular pair of pants for normal use or even work pants (unless your work is crawling inside septic tanks or smth), if you’re wearing underpants, should be fine all week without a wash barring some event.

a pair of jogging pants, if you’re jogging in them, certainly need to be washed more often than that

I do laundry a lot, but I still reuse clothes an embarrassing amount of times, but I run in the morning (soaking everything in sweat) then workout in the afternoon (also soaking everything) and then play poker at night where people can still smoke indoors and I smell like an ashtray. That’s three pairs of clothes everyday. I’d never rewear a smokey shirt, but a properly dried sweat drenched shirt actually doesn’t smell all that much because it’s so much water.

i like to assign my pants different jobs. i have pants for doing outdoor gardening work. pants for sleeping in. pants for lounging around the house. pants for going out to a bar. pants for going out to golf. and all these pants have different wash schedules, i’m sorry to say. it’s a very complex life i’m living.

It seems like some of those should be shorts…

I don’t own a pair of pants, but with Hawaiian shirts I try to thread the needle between ‘a couple/few times’ and ‘until it smells’.

If you were in Vegas, would you need more than one pair per day?

Ehh depends if I was grinding tourneys and how many. SEA isn’t as hot as Vegas, definitely more humid though. I need like one workout per day to function, but usually in Vegas I’m pretty degen.
