Wow.
On a more serious note …
I can’t imagine dealing with this as a 21 year old.
Just in case we’re not spoiling stuff for the prime time Watchers Wtf. I was excited about him before I learned that he’s the one that gave himself the name quad God. Then I was hoping you’d lose but seemed impossible. so I was amused when he turned his quads into singles and doubles. But now I feel bad for him
Well can’t blame the French judge on this one.
Biggest figure skating choke I’ve ever seen. And I saw Kurt Browning in Albertville and Lillehammer.
Agreed but no thx for the spoiler
look, if you finish your event and you don’t collapse onto the ground immediately and have snot and shit hanging out of your nose, I know you didn’t fucking give 110% you fucking slackers
Stop describing cross country and Nordic Combined. It’s gross.
It’s dusty.

Can anyone understand what Tracy Morgan says after “But I only bet on myself, … (unintelligible)”?
I’ve heard it 10x and I have no idea what he’s saying.
I’ll watch this tomorrow but man is that thumbnail an awful flex.
For skiing, it seems like the top 10 qualifiers will all go in a group shortly after a few initial runners. So like 6th-15th and they’re drawn randomly.
Mostly I just wish there were detailed stats for every competitor. Complete Olympics history (i.e. this is their 3rd Olympics coming off an 8th and bronze finish), current world ranking, and finish positions in all the world championships this Olympic cycle. There are usually 40-60 seconds between starts so plenty of time to relay this info.
Of course I barely understand what’s going on, but even going off the announcers’ reactions it seemed like there were some massive runs that would get like an 88 (with podium being low to mid 90s).
This is my issue, that I’m perpetually a little behind, so it’s tough to participate in any real-time discussions. I’m trying to speed watch almost every event. Some, like the sliding events, seem mostly decided by run 4, so I’ll just watch a couple leaders and spend 5 minutes on it.
I would say #2 behind Kylie Minogue’s Loco-Motion:
Insanity that the Austrian guy won b2b golds in snowboard cross with all the chaos involved in every event.
I’d love to know the story behind certain countries being so good at random events. Like in snowboard cross, for example, France seems very good at this, but then in snowboard halfpipe, they’re a complete non-factor. SB cross seems so niche, how are they into that, but not really any of the other SB disciplines?
Or even the history of the Dutch in speed-skating. How did they become so dominant? It doesn’t really seem like something you’d be doing in Netherlands growing up so maybe in the Olympics long ago they lucked into some medals, then just made it their thing and started investing more into it? From what I understand, a ridiculous % of the country is watching these events.
He also does his own freaking voiceovers during his skating music. F this guy, seems like a massive tool.
While waiting for his score he was saying stuff like “if they would’ve let me skate in Beijing this wouldn’t have happened”, placing the blame on others for his choke job.
The Netherlands does have a ice skating culture dating back a long time. Most people here definitely have at least tried some ice skating on natural ice or skating rinks during winter. The first world championship in speed skating was held in the Netherlands in 1893. There is a famous race in the North, the Elfstedentocht, that can only be held if all canals/lakes etc have sufficiently thick ice. It’s hard to communicate how much the country would be abuzz about it whenever the conditions were even remotely close to sufficient. Unfortunately due to global warming it’s unlikely we’ll ever have another one, it’s been 29 years since the last time.
Lulz a Brazilian wins Gold in the men’s slalom.
Germany suffered a bad defeat in icehockey. Too many unused chances and outside of the nhl players the depth is not good enough.
Yeah If self proclaimed quad God wasn’t enough that voice over sealed the deal
