Saw some NYT headline that said Microsoft claims it has created a new state of matter for quantum computing or something. I didn’t read the article because it’s behind a paywall, but it really feels like we are living through some dystopic sci-fi horror film.
Microsoft Marijuana or something. I don’t know how much it actually works and most of the technical people I’ve seen comment are skeptical. I’m down though.

There’s a relatively new podcast called Scam Inc. that looked into these centers in Myanmar, spoke with a few people that escaped.
Unfortunately I think the rest of the series is under the Economist paywall, first few were free.

I try not to be an asshole to outbound call centers that are clearly overseas and a scam, mainly because I’m hoping they really remove me from their internal dialing system.
Knowing that some of them are literal slaves breaks my heart even more.

Ive gone off in the past on some of these guys who have whole monetized channels off of trolling these 419 scam guys - what makes me mad is they are fully aware the people they are trolling are probably trafficked, likely going to be severely punished, and they pretend like they’re doing some kind of good thing, but it’s really just voyeuristic sadism masquerading as altruism
If the scammers are wasting their time on trolls then that is less time successfully scamming someone else.

Why? The victims are mostly Asians, but they mentioned Malaysians… And over 70% of Malaysians speak English. Also Ethiopians, 85% speak English.
