TIL Australia is the actual landmass continent, while Oceania is the broader cultural and geographic zone that surrounds it.
So the idiot is wrong and Australia Is the continent with the fewest countries. It consists of Australia, Papua New Guinea and part of Indonesia.
The other countries in Oceania are not part of any continent, with the exception of New Zealand, which sits on top of a mostly submerged mass of continental crust called Zealandia and is officially the earth’s 8th continent, though it seems to technically be a micro-continent
