Crappy parts of California have more natural beauty and culture than the entirety of Ohio

There’s a couple of centuries-old trees and real old-growth forest in a local park near me and that’s not even one of Ohio particularly notable hiking trails.

Columbus was pretty gritty in the late 80s when I was living there.

I had to take square dancing in gym class because Henry Ford was a huge anti-semite.

Well, that validates their decision to kick you out.

Only good thing about Ohio is Cedar Point, best rollercoaster park in the world. Thankfully it’s a short drive from Michigan in and out.

Tallest tree, oldest tree and largest tree in the whole world are in California. (3 different trees)

I wouldn’t be surprised if some of these states have what effectively amounts to a marketing department that is paying US News and World Report for higher rankings. Like some tourism grant or something. Use it or lose it!

Fuck. I had square dancing in sixth grade because this guy hated Jews. I’m pissed.

This southeast Michigan ford kid got to do swing dancing instead and it was huge middle school drama to see who your partner was

I cannot take any ranking of states seriously that has Pennsylvania at the bottom. I’m not saying it’s top 5 or anything, but it sure as hell isn’t last.

For these kinds of things, I compare the best that each state has to offer. Columbus, Cincinnati and Cleveland may be fine, but they aren’t exceptional like LA, San Francisco or San Diego. Nor do any of the parks in Ohio compare to Yosemite.

Also the redwood forest in Northern California or Sequoia in the Sierras or lake Tahoe or Joshua tree or Mount Whitney or Big Sur or the whole freaking coastline.. death valley

I checked my rankings and it is (looks through papers) 50th, except for the Dutch.

Philly/Pittsburgh sports yambags drag the ratings way down.

I was elite at figuring out how to get paired with a pretty girl in our square dancing unit.

That’s just because they knew you’d be Bill Gates one day.

I did not care for my time in Ohio. Way too much sky, snow that stays on the ground for 4 months, so hot and humid you leave salt rings on your sheets in the summer time. Only positives were impressive thunder storms and fireflies.

What part? My wife grew up near Lansing
