Okay. Teared up a little at the Medicare stuff. As someone who has lived in a country without it, it’s one area where I lose my cynical side.
Dutton saying that people that rent are not smart enough to vote correctly was the highlight of how our politicians think about housing. Also the fact that the majority of our politicians are landlords doesn’t help. But at least Labor is better in lots of other areas.
Like other countries, don’t Aussie big cities have lots of nice (i.e. expensive) apartments geared towards younger professionals and well-off retirees?

That is one of the problems but NIMBY is the biggest. For example in Sydney they build a brand new Metro line and it is great but all the councils near the new train stations are fighting tooth and nail to prevent new high density buildings and especially anything affordable near the stations.

anything that is newly built is probably only affordable to upwardly mobile young people.
Why are people against building high density buildings (no cars) near metro lines?
Almost any new housing built increases the affordability of housing available in a market. The people talking about how they would be for housing if it was just affordable units are lying 90%+ of the time.

During a stay at a bed and breakfast, I saw the owner’s Great Dane and small dog play together. It was cute how the Great Dane got down really low on the ground and essentially handicapped himself so they could play fight on equal terms.

I used to have a Great Dane and a chihuahua. Was crazy. The chihuahua was a runt and the Great Dane could look over our back wall (6 foot wall). Poops were as big as the chihuhua.

Went out in Hollywood last night for the first time in many years. Immediately ran into Bill Maher hanging out with two women less than half his age. Some things never change.
