It really is amazing that we may have seen the death of the boomer era and the “when they go low, we go high” era in a matter of days, and all it took was some rando governor of a Great Lakes state to call Republicans “weird” and everyone to love it.

Yeah, there’s at least a certain logic to why folks in red states anywhere would get caught up in anti-immigrant fever, like “sure they’re mostly in Texas and a few other states now, but if we keep letting them caravans flood in eventually they’ll make their way up here!”
To think that “transgenderism” is gonna invade your state means you have to believe a lot of weird shit like that cities and coastal states are actively pushing innocent kids to transition (for some unknown purpose) and if the Democrats are in power, that will come to their quiet little town too, and little Billy will get secretly provided estrogen from the school nurse because he played with dolls one day in kindergarten.
And sadly, a lot of people do believe some version of this, but it’s more of a fringe thing compared to immigrant fears.

“The Democrats cannot take Latinos for granted. I think Biden missed a grand opportunity to have been able to carry both Florida and Texas,” he said. “If he had just invested in the Latino community more, if he had delivered the correct message. The numbers that we’ve seen out of Miami-Dade is he got 250,000 less Latino votes than Hillary Clinton got.”
Garcia and others pointed to Trump’s victory in Zapata County, just north of the Rio Grande Valley, where voters had overwhelmingly backed the Democratic candidate in the past two presidential elections.
“It went from Hillary to Trump. Why? Because the issues of law and order are impacting Latinos quite a bit,” Garcia said. “For example, a lot of the border patrol, law enforcement are heavily Latino in the Rio Grande Valley. So when you are talking about defunding the police, and you don’t stand up to those types of rhetoric, then it leaves an opening for Republicans to come in and take advantage of that.”

At any rate looking at their site I think they’re motivated by fear of Trump’s proposed deportation program and project 2025. Evidently Trump was insufficiently terrifying last time round.
