When Trump answers questions about Vance with “historically the VP choice doesn’t matter,” that’s as close as he’s going to come to admitting that yes, he wishes he would have done otherwise.

Pete is correct in understanding that the proper response is to lead with a brief and slightly more professional rendition of “LOL no” and then going back to proactive messaging instead of giving multi-paragraph explainers as to why the criticism is off-base.

This get cancelled out a bit by the fact that he’s a colossal narcissist and loves to be surrounded by supporters while he just rambles on about whatever bullshit happens to be in his brain that day, like nonsense about sharks and electric boats.
He’s 78 years old. Even the healthiest 78 year olds don’t have the same energy levels they did 8 years prior, and no one thinks Trump is all that healthy. It’s very possible he’s just not physically up to a campaign schedule.
While I’d feel for anyone on a personal level who got shot and is now afraid of being out in public, political assassinations are a constant throughout all of human history. If you can’t face the public because of your fears of this, then politics aint for you.
This is what legit scares me the most about AI. At least before bullshit generation required some human manpower so as long as the bullshit refuting manpower was greater than the generating, you had a fighting chance. Now we have bullshit generating machines, without the appropriate countermeasures.
This is an impressive lack of self awareness, even for a Trump.
