2024 US Presidential Election (Taylor's Version)

“Weird” is the 2024 version of “person you’d rather have a beer with” which has successfully predicted every election winner since like 1972.

Feels like Gerald Ford might be a better drinking buddy than Jimmy Carter. Or maybe I’m just influenced by that one Simpsons episode.

I don’t know anything about anything but imo most people don’t really believe our “democracy” can crumble or erode. So that attack on Trump falls flat with many, especially lower-info voters. “These bitches weird” lands right on it. Walz in particular seems to do a good job of “They’re weird, and they’re weird because of X, Y, Z.” It happens to help that most of them are totally weird even aside from policy.

Can somebody explain that picture?

Is that an easter bunny meant to represent jesus?

Do you like nachos?

Yeah to most low info voters all that “democracy in jeopardy” stuff just sounds like the same bombastic “this may be the last election ever if we don’t vote X” noise they hear every election.

That “most people” includes most of the people here. The lower info voters probably aren’t even hearing about this “weird” campaign, but if they are, then I can’t see them caring. If they hear one thing, I hope it’s something about a 10 year old being forced to carry through a pregnancy because of Trump.

This is going to be terrible, not the worst of having Biden lose both the popular vote and the electoral college, but a Trump 1.0 redux of losing the popular vote, winning the electoral college, and then going authoritarian is really going to wreck things.

There will be elections. Pretty much everyone has elections. Will they be so rigged as to not matter? That’s the question.

We had elected politicians at all levels in 2020 try to conspire and change the outcome. They just weren’t quite effective enough.

Question is asked and answered already. To pretend otherwise

It’s making them The Other, Joe Sixpack isn’t weird, he’s a stand-up guy. Republican’s are great at defining their group as the Real Americans and everyone else as liberal elite commie socialist commies, they don’t know how to defend against being outcast from Normal Society, the only defense is to let the pitch go by and they can’t do it. It’s nice to use some of their tactics against them.

welcome to messaging discipline. We’ve never really had it on our side, so I can understand why it seems odd or cringe.

We see it and make fun of it on the right all the time. Just look at it as fighting fire with fire.

You don’t say!

I highly recommend everyone ignore Nate Silver.

I’m not sure that’s what people mean when they talk about how weird JD Vance is.

Well there is an implication that no woman wants Vance anywhere near their beer
