this isn’t a reason to allow the status quo to stand
schumer is a moron if he actually thinks this, trump absolutely thinks vance was a great pick, as evidenced by the fact that a super smart person (trump) did it
the problem with this is that the types of rulings that are coming out are not very compatible with this strategy. Like, how does Biden ignore Dobbs? He can’t really ignore the immunity ruling (he can (but won’t) direct the DOJ to ignore it but he can’t direct the judiciary to ignore it). He could ignore the student loan rulings, maybe I guess?
It’s not like Trump doesn’t sour on people he picked. He just assigns the blame elsewhere for why he’s now unhappy.
I don’t get it, do Dems want Trump to drop Vance? Why talk about this? They have a popular candidate with some actual momentum for the first time ever and still can’t stop themselves from talking about republican drama
I don’t disagree, just pointing out that it could get weird.
Actually the best time to pack the court could be after getting a Democratic trifecta with a president and congress that actually fucking mean business (willing to nuke the filibuster and pass a new voter rights act, some anti-gerrymandering legislation, hell even uncapping the size of the House) and make it part of a plan that vastly reduces the chance of the GOP as we know it ever taking over with the ability to re-pack. But that’s a fantasy.
They probably think Trump won’t listen to Schumer
It’s a wedge. Sure let Trump drop him. It will just be more time talking about that rather than attacking Kamala or whatever.
I think the alt right crypto bros would be pretty enraged to lose Vance. On the other hand, I think if they replaced him with Haley the GOP would benefit. So yeah maybe we should ease off the Vance gas? I dunno.
I grant that I’ve wanted the speed to slow down a little to ensure that he stays on as a liability, but this is well beyond all ability to control at this point. In the meantime, obviously no posting on this board is affecting that speed.
this would be a huge improvement imo and is not really discussed much, and has the bonus of making gerrymandering way harder/less effective
Yeah it’s not a silver bullet but it can fix some things. Student loans would be the big one and a bunch of regulatory stuff as well, possibly enforcing the voting rights act too. Of course this is stuff that you’d ultimately have to enforce at the barrel of a gun but we did that with desegregation so maybe it’ll work again.
This can be the first election won by memes. Pretty exciting imo.
He’s not talking to Trump really. Though Trump panicking and making a change would be glorious.
He’s talking to the voters. “Look how stupid Trump is”. The other bonus is it makes the other side play defense.
Just listened to a few minutes of clay and buck, the guys who replaced Rush, who is still dead btw.
They were on the defensive, we’re not weird , they are.
Nice to see.
I recall a segment with James Carville calling them weird, credit where credit is due I guess.
takes one to know one, we got em
Also how great is it that Dems have suddenly gained this massive enthusiasm burst right now. It’s amazing what having a 60 year old Kamala Harris have a chance will do for enthusiasm vs the typical 80+ year old Dem ghoul.
It’s why all of the people talking about how the media were unfairly smearing Joe Biden and if we just shut up about it people will forget were totally wrong. People are desperate for anything to get excited about.
And we still have picking a VP, and a convention to drive enthusiasm and news cycle.
Republicans got nothing between now and election.
LFG
If the 2020 Primary was down to just Kamala and Biden who would you have voted for?
- Biden
- Harris
