Deeply unserious. Read more, post less

Actually curious. When was the last time a protest movement on the left had any force or effect?

63 for the March on Washington?

it’s probably the Brooks Brother Riots on the right.

Women might actually save America from the brink. Especially young women they are the first in line to lose rights (actually second to undocumented immigrants but they don’t get to vote). Hoping the pollsters have somehow missed this.

This is in the polls. Young women are breaking heavily left. Young men however are moving more and more right.

On the plus side, a side effect will be depopulation.

I mean, if nothing else I suspect AQ would certainly nominate the Stonewall riots. It’s very difficult to separate cause and effect. Was Stonewall a spark that drove the gay rights movement, or was it simply symptomatic of it? Hard to say.

Popular vote may actually go Trump. I still think Kamala is a fave (obviously, Polymarket is still at 58%) but Rasmussen most pro-Kamala of last 7 national polls is wild.

I think there’s an ABC/Ipsos poll just out not included here yet that was Kamala +4, but still.

HUGE IF TRUE

What happens if Trump “steals” the election depends heavily on how exactly it’s stolen imo. Relatively subtle stuff with plausibly deniability? Nothing happens. False electors? Nebraska changing rules post election + house vote? That kind of outright stuff leads to chaos imo.

If it is an obvious legislative rig job (highly unlikely to work given Dem control of most swing states and Kemp not playing ball in GA) it will be total chaos including violence. If SCOTUS steps in to rig, probably the same but depends how ludicrous the decision.

January 6th? Although you could argue that it changed nothing I guess

That’s the thing, protests don’t work anywhere in the face of an at least somewhat popular authoritarian that is a sociopath. Sociopathic authoritarian likely just needs to retain whatever support he had prior to the protests to maintain power and crushing the protests is way more likely to increase his popularity with his supporters than to come close to decreasing it enough for him to lose power.

Bannon allegedly set up the Muslim ban to cause maximal protests for exactly this reason:

This guy has some of the more persuasive hopium, unfortunately he’s a Lincoln Project douche

Is there a more ludicrous decision than total immunity? There was nothing but crickets for that

Without evidence this is no less stupid than the “Black insurrectionist” saying Walz fucked a minor student.

It also depends on whether the current government is willing to deploy a “Fuck you, no” defense in the face of obvious state or SC riggage. That may actually lead to more violence, and I don’t think our current setup has the stomach for it, but it would be a necessary step in the process.

That decision didn’t put Trump into office though. Keeping Trump out of jail has basically zero impact on anyone’s day to day life.

Ya that’s a good example too.

lol give me a fucking break.
