2024 LC Thread

If the teacher sees the kid using the phone when they are not supposed to, they take it. The parent has to get it back from the office. If this happens often I guess they get suspended.

This seems like a better policy than locking all the phones in pouches or lockers, imo.

How about this: If you can’t abide by the artists request that you go without your phone for a couple of hours, don’t go to the fucking show?

This obvious point was made in like the third post in this discussion.

Yet you continue to cry about it…

lol. It’s called a discussion, on a you know, discussion board. :man_shrugging:

This is a good idea and seems doable. Way better than the pouch.

I’m on board with this, but they have to tell you before you get there.

I do agree this should be mentioned at the time of buying the ticket. Pretty simple disclaimer on the Ticketmaster site ā€œThis performance makes use of lock bag technology to remove cell phones from the audience. Any use of a cell phone during the performance for any reason will result in expulsion from the venue and no refunds will be issued.ā€

There are various apps that limit screen time and which apps you can use. So you can limit it down to just phone calls or incoming texts or something.

I’m having a hard time imaging how figuring out how everyone’s app is set correctly is going to be substantially faster when going in. Leaving, obviously, is much improved.

Really? To me, throwing my phone in a pouch takes less time and is way less invasive than making me download some random piece of software that is going to essentially brick my phone. Between tech issues with the app, spotty wifi/cell phone service at a lot of venues, and general pushback from people who don’t any more want random stuff on their phones, having to make sure people actually start the software, etc. an app sounds like a much bigger headache.

I don’t know how we, as a species, were able to function before the advent of cell phones.

How we could attend events without the ability to be contacted for a couple of hours?

Students and parents, unable to contact each other in case of an emergency…

The important part is to make it so the concert can impose it on a customer, who can’t back out without leaving.

I’d give people choice of bag or app.

Comedy clubs should be allowed to operate EMPs.

Yeah the venues need to come up with their own app. Use the app or take the pouch, your choice.

Was gonna say this.

Filmed comedy shows also rely on the audience reaction audio and shots of the crowd. People on phones damages both
