Your argument is that obstructing the device that thousands of people attending use to record doesnāt stop recording?
Ignoring that, I still donāt care because Iām burnt out on robots holding up their lifelines to capture ālifeā instead of living in the actual moment in front of them.
When someone else is intimately involved in some industry that youāre not involved in and they are doing something you think is irrational, itās good to pause and consider that there might be something youāre missing. Even if the reason is theater or corruption or somethingā¦ If you canāt explain it, youāre probably missing something.
So far nobody has provided an explanation that prevents me from simply using my watch or just bringing a second phone or other recording device. Or why Iām wanded in the phone use area but not on entrance.
Cause it works. Maybe not 100%, but it works well enough. It happens less often, the quality is worse, whatever, but it works. They try to stop recording as best they can and then they try to take down videos as best they can and it results in fewer people seeing bootlegs.
This seems a little willfully obtuse. People go to concerts specifically to hear the same songs they have heard a million times before and get upset if there is too much new material. Conversely, comedy relies on irony and the unexpected and comedians basically pretend to be making stuff up on the spot to underscore that. And that is beside the point that many comedy types try to test the boundary of what is acceptable to the audience and sometimes cross that threshold in spite of themselves.
Genuinely have no idea what point you are making. Itās not theatre if a guys wife is a day or two from their due date or a doctor is on call or someone has an accident or a guy is the check in text for a field crew or the hundred other examples I have not mentioned.
Again, I would have no issue if someone can explain the actual utility. If Iām missing some clear utility then Iāll concede.
This is relatively new I think, at least in the US - schools banning mobile phones. LAUSD is implementing it right now and itās being debated by my local school district.
Was talking to a niece and nephew last week. Phones are banned totally during school hours. No pouches though. They just canāt be seen using them. This makes sense to me.
Youāre assuming you know better than a lot of people who are much more directly involved. Maybe theyāre all wrong. But if they arenāt all just stupid, whatās youāre explanation? Big phone pouch?
Donāt you think the promotors, venues, and artists all hate this even more than you do?
