Remember the quiz back then that got everyone who took it (aside from straight psychopaths) to get a result of either Dennis Kucinich or Ron Paul?

And that website where you choose the responsr to one multiple choice prompt per day from your fictional nation state

They did this. It was called Pioneer House on PBS. The men generally got satisfaction from being outside chopping wood, working the land, using their hands and muscles to provide for their families. The women got zero satisfaction from back breaking drudgery washing clothes by hand and doing all the other household chores else by hand.

Yeah, being a single tech nerd in my 50’s is a piece of cake sister…

The stuff about how it takes both parents working to buy a house now is probably excluding that homes used to be half as big back then.

I actually understand that whole tweet and I am not happy about it.

Sadly not only do I understand that tweet, I think I understand the context because my son told me yesterday that Kai Cenat does a Sub-a-thon. I assume that’s related. I have acquired this information against my will.

Subsistence farming is an insanely hard life and every society that had a chance stopped doing it immediately, even if it meant working in mines or Victorian factories. Why do people have this fantasy that it would be chill to live on a premodern farm?

Does “NPC” mean something different these days?

Well. That and the enclosure acts which basically just decided that common land was now gonna be owned by rich people.

There’s some quote from George Orwell which is that’s it’s always just a boot stamping on someone’s face, forever.

There’s a bunch Amish groups around me. There’s a reason a bunch of them run away the first chance they get. There’s actually an ex Amish that lives near me that has a big social media following. He just posts telling stories about being Amish, escaping, and interacting with his family that is still Amish. He helps others escape now.

The peasant farmers in pre-Victorian England didn’t go work in the mines and factories voluntarily. Their land got taken and they were executed if they tried to subsist on the land after that.
