2024 LC Thread

Read this as massage melon.

I had worked out a whole bit about a delicately cut hole and having it slightly warmed in the oven.

Halloween probably going to be a bust here with this 47 and rain. It’s just a little too cold of a rain, too early in the dark season imo.

It was 75 yesterday and today it snowed. We did not get a lot of visitors

I’m in New Orleans now. Bourbon St. is packed, and at least 25% of people are in costume. I was also surprised this year to hear a few of my middle-aged patients talk about Halloween parties they were going to.

I thought Halloween for grown-ups had slowly died. But it seems to have roared back since COVID.

Only about 180 kids, slightly above average but not ranched. Bring on winter.

I don’t always get insomnia, but when I do, I fucking GET IT. I wake up at 1 or 2 am and it is just immediately crystal clear I won’t be sleeping any more tonight.

My wife has trouble sleeping often. Hers is more chronic, and she can usually at least get a few hours, even on the bad nights. I usually sleep fine except for every once in a while, once a month or so, I just get none. Some switch in my brain is flipped for one night

I was similar. I could fall asleep, but I’d wake up at 3am and couldn’t get back to sleep. I take liquid doxepin now and I get a good night’s sleep. It’s changed my life.

How often did it happen for you? I am somewhat reluctant to take a drug every day for something that just happens once a month

I get that sometimes too, maybe once every two weeks or so. I never have issues falling asleep, but sometimes I’ll wake up in the middle of the night to piss and my brain will not let me fall back asleep. If it’s late enough, like 4am or so, and I can tell I won’t be sleeping, I just don’t even try to go back to sleep. I’ll pull out my phone or Kindle or will go to another room and work or do yoga or something. One morning a few weeks back I cleaned the kitchen :man_shrugging:

Yeah when it happens at 4 am, or even 3 am if I went to sleep early, I usually do something similar. Just get up and try to get something done. I’m not at home tonight so I don’t really have the option

how to handle car insurance if you have two cars, two drivers but one person/one car drives almost zero? feels like we are getting completely fucked.

Does your insurance not ask you for the mileage driven per year for each person? If not, you switch insurers.

i have geico. they do ask but it doesn’t seem to matter at all because the quotes breakdown both vehicles are basically the same.

Well, you could always ask them hypothetically what would happen to your rates if your partner stopped driving and you sold the other car. But ultimately, if you think you are getting robbed, get a few quotes from other companies. It’s not hard with car insurance

Yeah in the same boat and basically found no workaround to getting completely fucked. It’s either be a one car family or pay the bill. If I put that one car is driven 3500 miles per year and most days not at all and back that up with odometer it doesn’t lower rates at all. I feel like once you’re below 10k you’re not getting much discount for driving less.

I really only shop 4 or 5 insurance companies with decent reputation for paying out claims though.
