2024 LC Thread: Name That Tune

One other thing to fix – Foolish was in 2002 and is number 18.

How about that Spice Girls song for #9, Wannabe. That seems like it had a way longer run than it should have and seems to check the one hit wonder box. I think it came out around then.

It was #1 for a million weeks in the UK I think, but only 2-3 in the US.

Looks to be correct! Not sure if it’s 32 or 33.

Also correct. You’re on a roll.

Someone You Loved?

3 weeks. The song that replaced it at #1, Circles, I was thinking was also a really good guess, but it only had 3 weeks, too.

Oh, I thought that would be the BTS one. Now I’m stumped.

Has anyone said As It Was? That’s a possibility, both as an international singer and a song that I can’t get away from no matter what.

42 was also international and was Butter, I just left it off because you’d gotten it.

Got another. 15 weeks! Although I guess Butter must be #40 and As It Was #42.

Maybe there are 19 songs that spent 9 weeks on the chart and we can do a bracket.

A lot of these songs are pretty bad actually.

Just checked and there are 15 for a total of 60.

Mack The Knife
Theme From A Summer Place
Hey Jude
Endless Love
Bette Davis Eyes
In Da Club
Baby Boy
Hey Ya
Let Me Love You
Candy Shop
Tik Tok
Call Me Maybe
One More Night
Royals
Work

Still works for a bracket - could give the 4 songs that have been on 16+ weeks a bye.

I’ll set this up sometime next month after the movie theme bracket is done.

Also taking myself out of guessing the remaining songs, as I saw 2 of the remaining answers while looking for this.

Seems like Hey Jude takes that bracket in a laugher, right? With the demos here that seems obvious.

I’d take the field easily.

Alright, I gave up and looked the rest up. Spoilers below spoil artists but not songs per se.

#14, Santana was on fire in 1999. Didn’t realize this one was essentially as big as Smooth. #26, lol, we apparently named every Rihanna hit except her biggest one. #30, forgot all about this song, but songs tied to movies do have a pretty strong showing on this list. #33, I had no idea this song was such a big hit, and I would have gotten the name wrong if you just played it for me. #37, holy shit did Drake dominate 2018. Between this, #36, and another song that didn’t make the 10 week cutoff, he was at #1 for 28 weeks in 2018. #39, I’ve heard the song, but I couldn’t name title or artist from hearing it before looking it up.

Is there really no Michael Jackson song that made the list? That seems amazing to me.
