Closer to the right idea. Weā€™re firmly in the vibes era, the only things that matter are projecting strength, confidence and charisma

I mean about the same number of people voted for that as they did in 2020 or 2016. That didnā€™t really gain votes.

People just didnā€™t show up for Kamala.

The more I read from voters, the more Iā€™m convinced that entitlement has completely poisoned americansā€™ brains.

I keep seeing a version of this explanation from swing voters: ā€œWhat do the democrats offer me? They didnā€™t ā€¦rallies off list of ponies they wantā€¦ and so I might as well vote Trump and blow it up.ā€

I really think weā€™re going to see an incumbency disadvantage going forward, with lots of one term presidents. People are too used to getting everything they want immediately. Long term thinking is dead.

We need more serious counter-bullshit operations. Like actual buildings filled with full-time nerds debunking memes and spreading that shit on social media. Make normies feel stupid and gullible if they start to be enthralled by the cult. Seems doable if we have billionaires on our side and can outspend Trump in the general.

Democrats didnā€™t offer ponies like healthcare. Stupid voters

While itā€™s true that Trump is going to get a pretty similar number of votes, there were definitely some shifts that took place under the surface.

This is my take as well.

All the pundits and half this forum are trying to figure out what messaging would have worked or which candidate would have been able to win and I think its way more simple than that -

Do you feel like you can buy as much shit now as you could before? Thatā€™s it. Thatā€™s really the answer. Yes, thereā€™s some amount of the electorate that is going to vote for Trump no matter the state of the economy, but trying to explain to people that America is in a much better economic shape than the rest of the world doesnā€™t resonate when people feel like they canā€™t buy as much stuff as they could before. I think all presidential elections really boil down to this. 70% of the electorate are level 1 thinkers that donā€™t understand nuance, so it really just boils down to ā€œDo I feel like I can buy more shit now than I could beforeā€.

If strawberries are $10 and eggs are $6 because Trump has tariffed everything and all the exploited immigrant labor is gone, then dems can likely win in 2026 and 2028, regardless of the racist and idiotic electorate.

After she brought Haitians in to eat their cats, what did you expect?

No. Not for that specific issue.

Well I should say Iā€™m surprised it was so high.

Ok, but people in aggregate can buy more stuff now than in 2019. I get that they donā€™t ā€œfeelā€ like they can, and that 6 months after Trump is in office they will once again feel like they can.

Itā€™s easier to call for leniency when you donā€™t live where drug addicts nod off on your front step and commit petty crimes to pay for it. If you do live in those neighborhoods, which are always working class and often Latino, I can see where you might get fed up.

Iā€™m as left as they come on immigration, because I see good people who want to come here and work. Iā€™m not as left on infantilizing drug addicts like they have no agency whatsoever. Iā€™m all for giving them a helping hand, but there has to be an incentive to get out, otherwise youā€™re just enabling them.

Just put yourself in the shoes of some working class immigrant who busted their ass to get here and now is working two jobs and has to climb over fentanyl addicts to get off the subway on their way home. How is that person going to relate to some liberal in Santa Monica telling them that the solution is just just give the addict more money, clean drugs, paraphernalia, and a safe space to do drugs?

Bottom line is I have a lot more sympathy for the people who live in those neighborhoods and would like to take their kids to the park w/o danger and passed out people everywhere than I do for the addicts. Maybe that makes me a bad person.

He operates on a childlike level thatā€™s comedically transparent to every one of us, but apparently works on over half the country. And he sticks with it. Never pivots. He has no shame. Doubles and triples down on everything dumb thing he says

Never apologize
Never back down
Lash out when confronted

Ironically, heā€™s found the one venue where pure BS and bombast work best. Politics!

Now the rest of us have to find a way to deal with what could be the next Hitler

He now has unfettered power to do whatever the fuck he wants with it. He can raid Fort Knox. Give nuclear codes to Russia. Assasinate a political rival. And heā€™s just the type to run with it

Also too though, an individualā€™s wages donā€™t follow that graph. Plenty of people do have less purchasing power now than then.

My eyes rolled out of my head and now I canā€™t see anything
