2023 NFL Gameday Thread: SUPER refBOWL!

I really want to see a breakdown on how Tony and Moore got so wide open in those last two TDs. I feel like Reid saw something and saved that for the biggest moments at the end of the game.

Of course it matters if the ball was uncatchable–it’s an enormous difference in real game equity between a guy actually being held on a ball that can be delivered to him, and a guy not getting held on a ball that can’t be delivered to him. They just don’t want it to matter because then they can Calvinball with impunity and claim the expert refs executed the call perfectly. That’s how we got phantom jersey grazes within 5 yards of the LoS resulting in 99.9% Super Bowl equity two years in a row.

In both the initial replay live and when I watch it closely now, you can see Smith-Schuster’s momentum clearly being impeded by the initial jersey pull in the very first second of the replay:

Dunno, probably gets a step on him and Mahomes finds him without the tug. And not calling the hold in that spot just rewards Cheatriots/Legion of Cheats style “championship” defenses.

It’s just very basic goal line strategy, two similar ways to incorporate double moves in short yardage/tight space by doing the moves presnap

It’s not very different than a CB biting on a double move sluggo or whatever. Happened to work

Look, I know I could be biased because I’m a Bengals fan, but when the entire world watched 4 decently exciting quarters of football plus a quality halftime show and all anyone can talk about is the flag on the last play, two weeks after the entire world was also talking about the reffing and not the game…something is terribly wrong.

Perception is reality, and the NFL really does need to get a handle on this because it’s going to start affecting their brand, and thus their bottom line.

You rarely see WRs that wide open for TDs vs a Super Bowl team.

On an unrelated note - I’m watching the highlights now. Half the Eagles highlights are QB sneaks.

They’ve been doing it forever and it just drives more engagement.

Possibly, but I feel like there’s a tipping point, and they are getting close to reaching it

The Chiefs were in the wrong end of these for decades until we got the golden boy QB. And it just made me a more rabid fan.

now imagine being on the wrong end of it for years, getting the golden boy QB…and still being on the wrong end of it…

It happens though. So does an RB walking into the end zone untouched.

And it happens on goalline/redzone situations and the most highly leveraged third and inches situations, because of the way a defense is looking to sell out. So the little slipup cooks you

Well, if it works that well, it would be stupid not to do it.

This is what I’m talking about. Much letter of the law! Very rules! If you can’t call something this completely egregious on a ball that’s 95% to be caught with potential to be a huge gainer, then fuck off and walk into the ocean with this phantom touch 2:00 shit.

Agree with what you wrote except that it was missed wide left.

Yes he would lol.

I’m with you, but I don’t watch much football anymore.
