2023 NFL Gameday Thread: SUPER refBOWL!

Yes! Was surprised the league was taking the short view and rigging for the Eagles based on market size vs generational superstar Mahomes but it was a head fake. The league came through with the right decision in the end.

Am I the only person who thinks that while not egregious, it’s ok to call that? He was beat on the move, and then contacted him twice. Once coming out of the cut, and then once going up field.

Was wondering the same. No build up and looked like it was plenty good.

KC offensive coordinator should have been MVP for that second half, not Mahomes. Yeah, he played on a bum ankle and had that great run near the end, but the playcaller drew up some perfect TD plays.

Definitely not the only person. There are also surprisingly small number of people in KC who are with you on that.

Nothing commands respect more than the utterance of a four-letter word for a Super Bowl audience.

Just saw it on YouTube…

Gotta say out of all the commercials the guys from Scrubs have been doing, this was certainly one of them.

Does the non-murdering MVP still go to Disneyland (?Disneyworld) or did they stop that at some point?

This isn’t basketball. Contact isn’t strictly illegal. The contact has to actually impede the opposing player.

I thought it kinda did considering he was beat on the move and the receiver would’ve been further clear of him if not contacted a couple times. But I’d also be fine pocketing the flag. Just felt it was “call-able”.

We still love you, suzzer. You don’t have to do anything that drastic.

You just don’t get to complain about NFL refereeing again. Ever.

asses jigglin

I mean the contact occurred entirely behind the line of scrimmage on an uncatchable ball that was basically thrown away under duress. Would bet you almost anything I could go back and find one (or more) that were more egregious and not called.

Of course catchability doesn’t matter on a holding call since by definition it happens before the pass is thrown, I mean you can call it on a play that ends in a sack or a scramble or whatever. That said, while that was technically holding it should be called approximately never in a high leverage spot like that.

It was literally the “play of the game” and the ref has to know that throwing the flag is almost unquestionably handing the game to KC. For a future rule change, could I suggest that the defense could concede a touchdown if they choose to, so they can get the ball back.
