I watched some bts footage from the Dre/Snoop/etc show and I can’t remember if they explicitly said that they were lip syncing, but they did say that they did a precise dress rehersal in the stadium and recorded it in order to have a “backup” they could switch to in case they had last minute issues with the sound during the live show. It would not surprise me at all if some performers choose to use that audio so that they can focus more on other parts of the performance.
They probably also had dozens of other rehearsal recordings to pull from as well. It sounds a little b.s. because you’d have to know what you did in the lip synch or you could be off. They have to rehearse the lip synch.

Maybe we can take this to another thread but I don’t understand why a halftime show would be any different than any stadium show? They don’t lip sync those.
They have 20 minutes to set up the equipment. Stuff can go wrong.
