Remember the transformers that were attacked? It was to cut power so that the thiefs could steal something

Let them fight.

Taleb is a fucking stupid genius.

I don’t like Lex, Taleb, or Peterson, so it’s all good.

I guess my preference would be Taleb>Lex>>>Peterson.

Somewhere Sam Harris is feeling seriously left out.

Harris is mostly fine, much better than those three. His latest episode excoriates Musk.

I’ve never heard of this Lex guy. Cliffs?

His reading list is kinda basic

Lex is kind of a Joe Rogan with a slightly higher IQ. He does have a PhD and kinda-sorta once taught a class at MIT, but he interviews a lot of right wingers and always seems like a sychophant to the powerful (esp. Musk) and the interviews tend to be quite soft. From his interviews he seems rather dim or newly arrived to the world.

I think the reading list is fine, but not for a 40 y/o with any developed ideas. I’ve heard him described as a dumb guy’s idea of a smart guy. His interviews are available on YouTube if you’re curious.

Taleb still coasting on predicting the great recession?

This is a good description. The reason people were making fun of the reading list is that it accords so well with the critical view of Fridman. Like there are some good books on there but it’s more or less a dumb guy list of smart guy books suitable for someone introduced to planet Earth sometime in the last 12 months.

I was typing up some stuff about Lex but I think simplicitus hit most of what I was saying.

First time I heard of him was back in 2018 when he was on the Joe Rogan podcast. I think that’s what catapulted him into popularity along with those Intellectual Dark Web dorks (Weinstein bros, Jordan Peterson, Harris, etc). Since then he started his own podcast and I think that’s generally what people know him from now. He keeps a list on his website of “Sample Conversations” which I assume these are the interviews he’s most proud of:

Sample Conversations: Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Sam Harris, Joe Rogan, Vitalik Buterin, Grimes, Dan Carlin, Roger Penrose, Jordan Peterson, Richard Dawkins, Liv Boeree, Leonard Susskind, David Fravor, Kanye West, Donald Hoffman, Rick Rubin, etc.

A couple others worth noting from just the last few months: Ben Shapiro, Noam fucking Chomsky (x2), and an 8 hour banger with noted crypto fart sniffer Bajaji Srinivasan

Someone who’s a fan of darts please put this in terms of a one-on-one sport I understand - like golf or tennis or something.

I enjoyed Lex’s sycophants arriving with the “what you don’t like books?” defense.

Final match of a tied Ryder Cup, one guy rattles the flagstick on his approach and has six inches left, and the other guy holes out from the fairway.

How about bowling where both players have a perfect game going into the 10th frame. One bowler rolls XX9 and the other rolls XXX
