If you make eye contact with somebody who might be contesting your spot and ask if they were there first, they will usually just let you go ahead with a friendly wave. Now everybody is happy and you still gamed your way up the queue.
One place this doesnāt work is if youāre waiting for a seat at a poker table. I can think of two occasions where white boomers knew full well I got there first, but lied about it (and succeeded because they were regs who knew the brush well).
I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
Seems like a pretty terrible way to go:
It is important to note that even in these cases though the hot zone still exists, itās just offset into the aisle. In fact if youāre approaching from the checkout side and someone enters the hot zone from the rear before you establish your own position, you must go around and take your proper spot second in line.
This diagram doesnāt make any sense. Is everyone facing down? If so, why does the blue arrow curve around so that it approaches the guy at the end of the line from the front of the line? But if notā¦ what on earth is going on.
In any case, moving in any direction other than straight towards the back of the line is a weird thing to do.
One of those exquisite insults that caused ripple-mad through the manure pond of MAGA twitter posters

matt umad lol
Itās basically a birds-eye view. A and B are in line. C and D are both approaching the back of the line. The question was whether itās ok for C to approach the end of the line from the side (red path) or whether heās supposed to go around behind D just because D is approaching from the lineās direction. My answer is no, red path approach the the hot zone is perfectly fine.
OMG HE TOTALLY DESTROYED HER!
Ok. I got into an argument over this exact same scenario.
The issue with your approach is it doesnāt account for uncertainty.
I was roughly in position D in a line at airport check I. However. I had been in the queue for 2 or 3 minutes. I was leaving space for social distance and then the people in front had just moved ahead.
A family approached from C and joined ahead of me.
I called them out, saying there was a line. They got shitty and said they thought we had approached at the same time. I just said no.
They moved behind me. But not without a bunch of comments about " what happened to women and children first"
I had no idea Andrew Tate even existed until about 2 weeks ago. My life has been far worse off
Itās wild you can have a cult online following after moving to Romania to avoid sex trafficking charges.
Tate was also apparently one of the people whose account Elon unbanned.
I like Rep. Raskin. Apparently he has cancer. Heās taking it well

When I was with a group of travelers in Serbia, one guy was going on about Andrew Tate and it was insanely unpleasant. It was clear that he saw him as some kind of thought leader or something like that.
I ended that night in Belgrade early as a result.
Whatever it takes to get that $8 a month.
