2023 LC Thread - It was predetermined that I would change the thread title (Part 1)

We buy eggs by the 5dz costco pack and go through them in about 2 weeks.

My wife and I eat 4 eggs a day combined.

Plus a few here and there for cooking. And occasionally my daughter eats a few.

I like eggs for breakfast but I get bored of them everyday. I mix up my breakfast, sometimes eggs and meat, sometimes oatmeal, sometimes granola and yogurt, sometimes sardines. Eating eggs for breakfast every day would feel too repetitive for me.

We change them up. Sometimes I do a spinach and feta scramble, sometimes chorizo and eggs, sometimes shakshuka.

What do you do with them?

You can stick a few toothpicks in a peeled egg and use those to suspend it over a glass of water with just the bottom of the egg touching the water. It’ll start to root after a while and then it’s supposedly ready to plant. I’ve seen a lot of people starting this process on their kitchen windowsill but never seen it go beyond that.

Would have been nice to know this when eggs were like $50/dozen.

How does this even work? Aren’t these guys donating like mad to prevent this law from passing? Why isn’t that going to work?

That’s how it would go down here. Shit like that isn’t even getting to the proposal stage.

So this law is adding clubs that have pokie machines to a law that already restricts others.

This isnt my state. So some of the other aussies like @ChrisV might have a more informed take.

A few things tho.

There absolutely was a huge push by these clubs against the restrictions. There seemed to be bipartisan support (kind of. Theres a coalition. Its complicated) for restrictions.

The harm is so widespread that everyone sees it.

While australia is far from perfect, it’s done a relatively better job managing direct corruption.

A competent and trusted electoral commision makes a considerably difference in how changes like this are viewed.

The parliamentary system gives less control to individual members who might be bought. If the government gets a majority, typically all their members will vote with the government or face being kicked out. Politicians are selected by parties, not by primary.

My daughter makes a mean shakshuka.

First alarm in my city and we get a direct hit. Stupid iron dome. About 2 mins from my house.

Definitely surprising to see Samsung up there.

It’s significantly lower on the Gen X list.

I love that WD40 is so high on the boomer list.

What does “popular” mean in this context?

That people have a positive opinion of it
