2023 LC Thread - It was predetermined that I would change the thread title (Part 1)

There’s a place called washaway beach in WA that has lost something like 4 square miles of land to the ocean. Google Earth shows roads way out in the water when you look at the historic imagery. It’s nuts.

Having our nation’s children languish in classrooms every day instead of toiling in the fields is literally KILLING our kids

It honestly makes sense for my city commute where I end up walking probably 1-1.5 miles in total to and from the train station and on the platforms and such.

The average American commute where it’s to their driveway and to a front row parking space and to their desk doesn’t invoke much physical activity.

I’m pretty convinced that WFH is less healthy for like 80%. School isn’t even a comparison. There’s a ton of activity that goes on every day in school. Just walking between classes at high school and university was like a mile a day. My high school had a separate campus across a bridge one had to climb stairs to traverse. As far as daily activity, even the activity portion of an average commute and the amount of time spent walking around every day is at least minimally healthy. There are a lot of variables involved, but there is far too little ancillary physical activity associated with my WFH routine.

Reddit has been completely down for like 2 hours at this point.

Only allow wfh if they set up a home gym.

This is the longest and most consistent reddit outage I’ve ever seen. The app is still kind of working but even it won’t show comments.

Yeah its ability to interpret pictures is going to be really insane.

I suspect it will be able to scour the internet and put together extensive dossiers on people through text and graphics. I don’t know where this crazy world is going, but it’s going to change a lot.
