I don’t know why it annoys me that he added “as Brady looks on” in that tweet.
So I was gone for the game. I saw the headline “Dak’s 5 TDs propel Dallas to win 31-14” and thought there must have been a typo…
Epic under 45.5 with all of those shanked xps.
dreadful over confirmed; that final failed bucs td off the fingertips was the cherry
I missed the Cowboys game. How did Maher miss 4 extra points?
Thought he might have been injured or something.
Guess he became the new idiot kicker in the NFL.
Weird thing is, iirc, he was a pretty good kicker this year both on FGs (top 10) and made some boomers. Was slightly below average on xp (50/53) but not this bad. But I guess kickers is all variance outside of tucker nowadays
Nah. Maher got the yips.
Maher has the most 60 yard fgs made in history of NFL at 4, and most xp misses in a game and also missed 5 xp in a row across two games.
It was definitely the yips. He’s a good kicker. Didn’t care who won, but was happy to see him make that last one.
If they kicked from the same spot as today there’d have been dozens of guys who went 0 for 4 in extra points in a game. NFL kickers used to suck and there were some up to like the 70s who were position players.
Yeah the difference between a 19 yard field goal (old school XP) and the 37 yarders they kick now for the point is significant. Still would be very surprised if any other kicker missed 4 in a row from inside 40 this year. Brutal yips.
Agreed. I wasn’t saying it wasn’t a historically bad performance, just that going back before 2015 doesn’t make any sense as a reference. Old extra point is probably 99.9% for 2023 NFL kickers while the 37 yard attempt is probably 95-98%. For a 1970 kicker the 19 yard kick was probably 98-99% and the 37 yard attempt was like 85-90%.
Its still REALLY hard to miss 5 straight 85-90% shots.
Unless you’re playing Xcom
or one of the glitchy later versions of NCAA Football
