I’m assuming they’d have at least one (hopefully multiple) paramedics there. They should have defibrillator, airway management tools, IV sets, intraosseous devices, chest compression devices and more.
AEDs are great for people with little training. Kids can do it. It’s not great for medical devices because it’s slow. I can recognize and differentiate artifact from vfib a lot fast than the machine does.
Yeah, Chris Pronger took a slapshot to the chest and collapsed when his heart stopped…at least that’s how I remember it being reported. He ended up being fine but scary shit nonetheless.
Many (most?) ambulances carry something called a Lucas device for automated CPR and every paramedic level ambulance, which this has to be, carry a cardiac monitor. Some have ventilators but that wouldn’t have been done on the field
Are we really to believe the NFL doesn’t have a binder with the exact playbook for this (inevitable) situation? I think we all know that sooner or later (maybe much sooner sigh) someone is going to die on the field.
I’ve seen comments like this in a couple places - I think everything happened really quick and communication can be bad in crises, I’m not quite convinced yet that this is what happened.
