mccaskill did win, but she was awful as a legislator. i appreciate holding down the likes of hawley for however long she did, but clearly the blue dogs ultimately lost the war in mo
McCaskill was the beneficiary of the Todd Akin “legitimate rape” comment. Polls were pretty tight at the time, there’s a good chance she doesn’t even win a second term but for that.
Does this include taxing the rich more? Because a referendum to allow Illinois to implement a progressive income tax instead of the current flat tax was recently defeated, despite being bankrolled by our billionaire governor in an election Ds otherwise rolled. It’s a lot harder to write a bill than frame a poll question.
Agree with this. The thing with centrism is that no votes actually hold a centrist position. So by intentionally positioning yourself in the middle you are appealing to no one.
Bad poker analogy incoming but I was having a discussion with someone the other day on using average player profiles. While not a terrible idea, the problem is if you have a player who c-bets 100% of flops, and a player who c-bets 0% of flops, building a strategy assuming the pool c-bets 50% of the time is problematic. Yet fucking eDems just keep doing this under the hope that not being crazy republicans is enough. Just take up some popular positions and make that your message. How hard is this.
Taxing the rich more is incredibly popular. Tax increases in general are not. The problem is the right wing always manages to succeed at getting this reframed as taxing your average hard working small business owner “Joe the Plumber.”
Sucks that Madison’s gone. We need more gay sex in Congress. People would be way more interested in Congressional hearings if they were more like lemonparty than C-SPAN
