2022 Midterm Elections (Abandon hope all ye who enter here) butnahhh. or maybe?

It’s jarring when I’m watching a show from the 90s or '00s and someone makes a Donald Trump reference.

I think Desantis loses to Trump in the primaries. I didn’t believe that before last night, but now I do. Trump is going to bulldoze him.

2016 trump would have, but 2022 trump is not nearly as spry, by 2024 he may be barely coherent

That Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader meme of DeSantis in the high white boots during the hurricane is probably going to play well for Trump, along with trashing DeSantis for welcoming radical socialist Joe Biden to Florida in the aftermath instead of strapping him to some heavy debris and sinking him in the flood waters.

Usually in reference to how he is a representative Successful Rich Business Man. Reality is preception on this stuff.

This applies to me at least as much as anyone. God bless you and anyone else who can get themselves to show up for this stuff.

The actual solution is probably lots of [parody law] and that ain’t happening. The most viable solution that didn’t involve widespread parodies was probably electing leftist candidates to office and, well, that didn’t happen. MAGAS, tax cut republicans, and Dems who get involved in politics just to make sure the most right wing Dems win - they all want the fascist takeover, they just vary in how open they are in their support. People doing direct action outside electoralism are well intentioned and doing good deeds but it’s not going to matter when we move to permanent right wing rule.

idk if it’s an active plan or not, but republicans seem smart or crazy enough to support their real far right people in safe districts, but dems always seem to try and push safe districts center for some reason(corporate donors, im sure).

this really drags the overton window rightward once these people get in office.

This seems relevant here

I am now allowed to say the other big thing that happened that day.

The California Democratic Party and Senate Democratic Caucus upgraded our race to top priority, and dumped $500k into our mail and digital programs. (500k is still not enough to buy significant advertising points on local TV here).

Since then, people and electeds have been coming out of the woodwork to support us. People we had asked for endorsements from for months and who had ignored us or flat out turned us down. Knowing what we know about state politics, we figured there had to be more driving it. Turns out, someone did another poll recently that is even more favorable. It was something independent, so they can’t share the data with us, but Toni Atkins confirmed its existence last night on the phone with Joseph.

We’re also gonna roll out the Pelosi endorsement in a few days. We figure at this point it’s too late to really hurt us, and she actually wants to push it on her social media, maybe even record a video message. Now I really wanna know what those new poll numbers were, heh.

I think what you’re doing is really cool.

It must be so rewarding to feel like your contributions, personally, are making a difference in the politics in your community

It’s why i keep saying it over and over here…get involved in local/state politics. Volunteer for the candidates who don’t get all the attention, but have an oversized influence on people’s day to day life.

Depending on the city, council districts can be small enough that you could seriously knock on every single door, and personally interact with a majority of the voters.

It is a balm to the soul, especially when we spend so much time shouting into the void of national politics. Also, you learn what people actually care about, not just ideologues on twitter.

I think Cruz at +12000 or whatever is a great bet. Bearded Cruz has more juice than the old version

I’m watching the PA debate and Oz is just straight up lying continuously with absolutely zero push back. “John Fetterman wants to legalize all
Drugs and free all murderers” blah blah blah

Moderator pure trash of course

Separately, Fetterman is a truly terrible debater

LOL the hard hitting question for Oz: “do you support suspending the gas tax” get the fuck out of here
