Sort of.
In all the races this time around M comes before H which comes before L. Each race is not individually randomized.

Yes, they create a random alphabet order and use that to randomize names.
It’s kind of weird, but I like it. Utah often surprises me with weird shit like this.
Rigged.
Not to mention that it’s required to list his most recent job…Marine Captain. We even checked with the DOD to make sure it was allowed and they gave the OK. Seems like a bit of a cheat code, but we’ll see.
The text underneath the names is not something familiar to any ballot I’ve ever seen. Who determines what words are there?
Dunno, it’s a California thing I guess. They list the candidate’s occupation under their name.
It’s technically your last employment you had either when or just before you filed.
Could this Houlahan character have listed his occupation as “Darrell Issa is a fucking douchebag”?
haha i wish. Of course, Houlahan is also a douchebag, just not on the same level
Still can’t believe that it took me filling out my ballot to discover that thanks to redistricting I’d be voting for Sarah Jacobs instead of Scott Peters.
It’s been a big uphill battle for us, even among folks who are supposed to know what’s going on.
In the primary, Joseph spent 3 months begging the unions to take his call because they all thought he was running against the candidate in south county (where SD 40 USED to be), who they had already endorsed.
Shit, the Stonewall Dems put out their endorsement mailer and listed us in SD38…which is Catherine Blakespear’s district.
It’s actually a big persuasion point. When we go to the areas that used to be in Toni Atkins’ district, we say “hey, you’ve been redistricted. Instead of Toni Atkins, you’ll get a republican from SANTEE unless you vote for Joseph.” Works every time. They hear Santee and think “Nazi facemasks and Snek flags” and boom, we got em.
Philly burb signs are still running heavily blue. Did see a Shapiro (D-gov) and Oz(R-sen) combo yard today.
Overall sign game is low compared to 16 and 20.
It narrows uncertainty closer to election day, yeah.
What’s worse in 538’s model is if Rs take house, dems are only 33-36% to keep Senate, and while 538 has D house at like 18%, the real number is obviously 0.
Re: ballot ordering, I’ve always wondered why Georgia always has republicans first, and figured it was just some sort of fuckery.
This inspired me to look it up.
Georgia’s ballot order statute, which requires that candidates of the same political party of the state’s governor be listed first on the ballot in all elections.
Yup, confirmed fuckery
I think lots of states have some version of that rule. Not sure if they’re all red.
I have new next door neighbors. They just put up a Stacey Abrams sign. Granted, it’s at the end of a dead end so nobody will see it, but that’s cool.
I feel like there should be a way to make the candidates listed randomly on every ballot and have the computers be able to read them properly.
The uncertainty of non-waaf is dissipating.
