Ok I can’t believe I’m about to admit this but I read this tweet and just realized that chickens don’t just automatically lay eggs.
I really thought you could just buy a bunch of chickens and they’d start cranking out eggs but apparently you need to a male to fertilize it.
I might be the dumbest person alive and I’m not sure how I don’t forget to breathe and die.
Yeah it would seem to be a pretty big waste of resources for hens to lay infertile eggs. But then again so is bleeding once a month.
