Amazon will refund you every time. They give no fricks. There are various reports around the ether that they are destroying hundreds of thousands of packages a week.
I can’t speak to the veracity of the reports but it aligns with my experience of delivering packages for them. They have no contingency plans for obvious situations like people passing away. They literally do not care about waste on that level.
They have such a stranglehold on product inventory that it is actually logical for this kind of waste to happen.
