Did you miss the part where the UP is now Canada?

I look forward to the time we no longer post a ben garrison cartoon on UP.

trumpers online seem to have moved on to various executive orders to declare dictatorship or military coup instead of the election

More about future elections than 2020:

Yet the presence in the Constitution of such sweeping-sounding language as “in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct” has given rise to speculation about how legislatures may act if they judge an election to be illegitimate. The Supreme Court has not had occasions to clarify all the potential ambiguities.

Be glad he didn’t label it Canada.

They’re worried they might not be able to find 53 corporate shills and they’d rather have Republicans in Congress than progressives.

The case for not doing this is…? Norms or something?

Shitlibs gonna shitlib

They want safe districts. Nothing that can be remotely competitive. So they engineer a majority that protects some key individuals and let the rest go. Locking up safe R districts keeps those R votes was “wasted” as far as the other districts.

WHEN THEY GO LOW WE GO HIGH THEN WE ALL GO TO THE HAMPTONS TRY NOT TO STARVE TO DEATH PEASANTS!

They’re the good guys! When they go low we go high. Micro pointed out there are I think a few dem states that are slighly gerrymandered. Absolutely nothing like the Republican states though.

Obviously they need to get in the game since its clear the supreme court has ruled that the courts aren’t even allowed to do anything in regards to gerrymandering. But they won’t lol.

Courts can’t do anything about R gerrymanders. It’s like Duke and block/charge foul. Gotta look at the name on the jersey before ruling.

Dems had a chance to control state leg in VA this year and redraw favorable boundaries, so VA GOP got this half-assed ballot measure onto the ballot to make an 8 legislator + 8 citizen commission responsible for drafting the maps. Dems didn’t want this to pass; they wanted the power to draw their own map (like GOP did after 2010 census) in place of the current lightly gerrymandered GOP-favoring one.

The messaging was fucking comical if it wasn’t so stupid. There were signs saying “vote yes on 1, end gerrymandering” AND ALSO “vote no on 1, end gerrymandering.”

Of course it passed like 65/35 in a state that went Biden. GJGE Dems.

I mean, then they could draw one super R like 90 percent R district that looks like a Rorschach blot. That’s what happens in the red states now.

Part of the problem is that liberal state courts have been ruling that gerrymanders violate the state constitutions. So you have a situation in which blue states aren’t allowed to gerrymander and red states are.

It’s all because of cowpaths, and grazing patterns, man. Just like the roads.

Maybe if they figure out a way to get Katie Porter’s house into that district it would be worthwhile for them. I’m sure they’d love to gerrymander her seat away to a Republican who will be less of a nuisance.
