This was more true 20 years ago. And is certainly true for most first year economics. Which encourages all the business bros to explain “this is basic economics!” while missing the fact that most advanced economics is work showing where econ 101 breaks down and why.
If you look at many of the recent nobel prizes, its often for breaking down orthodoxies. A lot more practical and behaviour economists in there.

The guy who co-created Spider-Man and Iron Man, and fully created Dr. Strange, one of the GOAT comic artists, Steve Ditko, was a big Rand devotee. Guy could have been massively rich and famous like Stan Lee, but instead in his later years worked in a small office pumping out Objectivist (Rand’s philosophy) parables for cheaply made comics funded by Kickstarter. Kinda sad, but he was following his muse, making comics right up until his death in 2018. I like shouting him out because he’s an interesting dude. Most people credit Stan Lee with everything from Marvel, when really Lee was more like the lead singer whose bandmates wrote most of the songs.

And he’s still light years better than Musk, the Starbucks guy, and most of the rest of them. He’s like top 5% new money billionaire.
Gates and Buffet are the only two that are definitely better than immediately come to mind. I like what Bezos is doing with WaPo. But he treats his workers like shit.

I never did like that stupid trees song anyway. But finding out Temple of Syrinx is some libertarian nonsense, and not sci-fi, was annoying. I still like it though.
