I’m not denying any of this. I’m simply saying we don’t (yet) have a culture of pure tribalism like the US. I live in one of the most conservative provinces and cities in the country. I hang out with people who represent the most progressive wing of our politics. We just don’t talk politics all the time like in the US and when we do I don’t hear each side calling the other the enemy as much. It happens yes, but I am making an argument of degree, not kind. I hear people rail against policy, not people. In the US they have lost that distinction.

For anyone that wants a live look into the insanity that is the gop…

Theyve already removed PA, NV, and MI from the board because of fraud

700 thousand votes in PA compromised! This isnt over! Just because the media says over 1500 dead people didnt vote in Michigan doesnt mean it isnt true!

You are right that there’s a lot. Pinning down the exact % probably will kick off a definitional debate that doesn’t accomplish much. So I’ll just offer a few observations:

  1. In retrospect, when Scheer won the Cons leadership a couple years back we sort of dodged a bullet. Scheer is a douche but Bernier is actually capable of making the hard turn to fascism. In some ways he’s a good example of a charismatic Trump.

  2. Same convention - Leitch ran on explicit anti Muslim fascism, packaged in an inoffensive white lady. Its encouraging that she was roundly rejected.

  3. OToole is toying around with Trumpy proto fascist anti Trudeau rhetoric so we’re not out of the woods. Hopefully Canadians will see Trump’s loss as a sign.

  4. Canada is more urban than the US in population, which is a headwind to Trumpy rural populism. Our issue is more regional.

Lol Rudy will be on shortly. It’s going to be insane.

How “woke” are Canadian progressives to the plight of their Indigenous people?

Increasingly so!

Are Canadian cops as racist as their American counterparts?

Yes, you’re right. I split some time between rural and urban Ontario so I am exposed to the cultural differences here and its quite striking. In my rural county I have heard a few comments along the lines of “Trump doesnt seem really all that bad” which I never hear in Toronto.

Yes. Caveat - I really only know Toronto cops.

Alright. I’m already bored. It’s very difficult to watch somebody who claims to be a comedian do shitty non-comedy

So it’s tres cosmopolitan but with good old racist cops?

Just like NYC :frowning:

Yes, actually, that’s a good comparison. Toronto is very “liberal” but also has a lot of old white Protestant money and highly segregated racial communities with affluent white core neighborhoods and poorer non white neighborhoods surrounding downtown.

Trump is the tale of Reagan, told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

The shift in Fox News coverage in the last 24 hours is astounding.

They’re calling the election stolen, making all sorts of insane claims by talking head after talking head.

This is bad.

Crowder currently upset about the machines being down in Spalding Co. GA for a few hours on e-day. Dems were “too pussy” to vote in person, and Repubs have jobs and may not have been able to vote.

Indigenous rights are big here but there is also a lot of racism. Comparable to how African Americas are treated into the US.

West Hollywood, the center of the LA gay community, had a spontaneous celebration/street festival last night. A friend went and took some pics, he said it was amazing.
